Trains of Altoona & Gallitzin PA - July 7 1991

In the summer of 1991, the park at Horseshoe Curve was closed for renovations, so after visiting the museum in Altoona, it was suggested that we try the tunnels in Gallitzin instead.
1. Conrail eastbound coal train passing the Museum in Altoona. I wasn't expecting the rear end helpers, so nearly missed them.
2. An eastbound Conrail piggyback train exiting the tunnel at Gallitzin.
3. An eastbound freight with helpers on the rear.
4. A set of light engines eastbound out of the tunnel.
5. An eastbound hi-rail truck

I think they shut that one down 4 or 5 years later.

Yes it was 1995 or 96 when they shut the newest of the 3 tunnels down.

This is when Gallitzin had 2 tunnels operational.

Nice video! When did Conrail start using the "Conrail Quality" scheme? These videos make me feel a little funny; watching trains in places I am very familiar with, long before I did!
