Growing up in San Diego, these were a childhood train of mine. At least I'm glad we chose to give them a second home. More American light rail systens should do what San Diego did.

Well it seems pretty likely that the SD-100s are gone for good now. I’m grateful that I was able to get several rides on them this year.

In 1993, the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System ordered 52 SD-100 Duwag cars as the San Diego Trolley system was expanded with a new line aka the north line, these entered service in 1995. As of 2021 they were being phased out and replaced by Siemens S700's. Aka our 5000's Now in 2024 SDMTS no longer has them in revenue service. However fun fact 2001 will be remaining in San Diego for heritage purposes. Another fun fact for y'all who watch this video did you know we had up to 75 SD-100's originally planned for order, but we couldn't afford them so UTA Trax took the remaining 23 for their own system? In exchange we received the S70 Avanto units 3001-3012 which was to serve our green line in place of them waiting for 09 for the priority ordering of the S70 'US', in which is our 4000's. We have been very fortunate to see these vehicles serve their purpose and its my honor to see Argentina using them. Signing off AnonymousSDMTSEmployee

@@anonymoussdmtsemployee7770 Thanks for the update! I saw 5070 for the first time recently. Do you know if there are any plans to expand Silver Line service in the future now that 2001 is going to join the roster? I would also love to see it converted to a full transit line with regular trains and 15 minute frequencies each way.

@@anonymoussdmtsemployee7770 There is more new trolleys? I thought we already had our 25 additional trolleys (5046-5070). If there will be 5071-5090, I hope it is not to replace the 3000's, I feel like that because I haven't seen them lately.
