There was a "stringline" derailment at this location during the summer. For whatever reason, Union Pacific hasn't come back to rerail or salvage the cars yet.

I don't usually visit Tehachapi on the weekend, so I'm not sure what the traffic is like on weekends. However, railroads are a 24/7 operation, so I'm sure you would still see plenty of trains over the weekend.
