Mark - You are a gracious host! Awesome trains! Interesting how the trains in Australia are shorter (?) and not as heavy in tonnage. Great day for rail fanning.

Very cool Mark! Daryle is from a railway town that I have been to a few times to watch trains. Junee has a working Roundhouse that is used for loco servicing and rebuilding. Good to see a fellow Aussie at Tehachapi chasing trains...like I did in 2015 and an't wait to get back. Thanks for sharing mate. Cheers Gregg.

My dad was on a troop train in 52 heading to Fort Irwin right after the earthquake. He says the tunnel was completely uncovered except for the concrete tunnel which they could still pass through. He was in the California National Guard and the troop train would start at the north end of the state and head south picking up all the Guardsmen at each town for their two weeks of yearly training at Fort Irwin. Their equipment would follow on freight trains.

Hello Mark. As usual another great video. There were lots of trains and mostly all long ones. Most all of them gave you a horn salute. It was good to meet your friend from Australia. Take care and have a good one. 👍❤️

I am a retired UP employee in good standing with a valid company ID. They know I am out there and am not going to get in the way or do "hit" pieces. In this case, we hadn't planned on stopping at Walong as we were just getting on the right of way. The train just showed up as we arrived. Thanks for checking it out.

Ah, the wind. Sometimes a breeze, sometimes a "whisper" of a wind, sometimes gusty, and... Years ago in Northern Arizona one spring day, the windy season, I ewas following a small pickup with a large camper. He was really fighting for control over the wind. He took an exit ahead of me, pulled over and flagged to a stop. As we walked toward each other, we braced against each vehicle, and leaned into the wind . We had to get closee to hear, and he asked, "Does the wond always blow like this out here?" With a pause I answered, "No, sometimes it blows really hard!"

You don't want empty cars in front of loaded cars which causes "string Line" the main causes of derailments. Especially if you pulling a long heavy train through curves. Weight distribution its important on trains.

UP running lots of EMD SD70's on lead motive power...11:40 loop shows a decrepit siding on wood ties, is that a remnant of the Sufferin' Pacific?...no unofficial Aussie anthem in the outro?...it goes like this: Once a jolly swagman...
@MarkClayMcGowan

That's the old spur track. It was disconnected when the siding became the #1 track in 2015...."camped beside a billabong, under the shade of a coolibah tree..." Is that even close? It's all I can remember. I should have had Daryle sing it!

The dock at the museum usually has railfan regulars as well as visitors out waving, and many of the trains (especially BNSF crews) are honking for them.

@@MarkClayMcGowan : Thank you, very kind for your prompt reply! I had never been able to understand the use of those wagons, I like your US trains very much, they are incredible, enormous and for us Italians they are practically absurd, unimaginable compared to ours! I'm just a model maker, and I'm making a large-scale SD 40 2 SOO, 1 meter long! This is to tell you how much I admire your trains! Thanks again !! My best greetings from Italy !! 😉🖐🖐👍👍

A mild disagreement, sir . A "green" aspect can be called a "clear signal" by anyone. Any other signal aspect is restrictive in some way. The Dispatcher may "clear" a signal, but the signal can only display the least restrictive aspect the logic can permit. I suppose one could say that the signal can display an aspect cleared by the DS, but that would not then be a "clear" signal Welcome to the weeds.
