I grew up with a guy who dabbled in drugs with me. He always said I was like sick boy, because I could quit anything at any time despite the withdrawals and he swore it was to rub it in his face but we were extremely close friends. I honestly did it to make sure it never became a habit and stayed experimental, however somewhere down the line he got too out there and committed a murder and is gone forever, I've since cleaned up my act and got a decent job as a welder and I'm doing ight, it just sucks to see how shit just goes so left field in the life. He showed me this movie, I miss that fucker.

Was it a murder in some way to fund his habit, or you mean he just got "out there" like disconnected from reality
@experticus9901
@experticus9901 Жыл бұрын
@@mywhychromosome Well, the murder was due to his habit. He started getting so disconnected from reality after experimenting with “bromo dragonfly” which was labeled as an insect repellent. One night his mom called me at 3AM asking what he had taken because he was saying he had bricks in his stomach and was trying to cut them out. At the time I had no idea what was going on, I hadn’t seen him in weeks, but a few minutes later he called me and said everything was okay and sounded pretty normal but I was still worried. Never got a real answer for that but we hung out a few times after that until the Fourth of July. I invited him to my lil party but the next day I found out he killed his dad and injured his mom. His mom and I are still close, I’m thankful she’s alive and well

The second movie (T2) strengthens sickboys theory of life. He was living a wild ride taking heroin in his early 20's, living the rockstar lifestyle without a care in the world. Then in the second movie he has a family that he doesn't see, no friends and a bar that he is attached to as his only form of identity within the community. Its not until Renton comes back that sickboy finds himself again.

The book is a bit too nihilistic at times. The movie tries to be a bit more grounded how many sociopaths like Sick Boy do you know? There are obviously but they're not as common. You need to keep the characters within common parameters out there but still to seem like people that average Joe might know. The thing about books written from the 70s into the 90s was a nihilism that at times went too much into edgy for its own sake territory. Its not that the events never happened its that they were a statistical improbability.

I’m Australian, but my maternal grandparents kept their Glaswegian accent their whole lives, so I have no problem understanding Scottish people. Others here struggle with it a bit though. Then again, I doubt people outside Australia understand half of what we’re on about half of the time.
