Your December foot strike video and this glute video have helped my running enormously. In my 58th year. Running around 7 min mile . Got a present of the Cool Impossible for Christmas . There's hope for the elderly yet.!

Love this, lots more here dive in. Thanks for watching and careful who you call elderly. My favorite quote in the Born To Run 2 book Chris and I are writing right now is: "dont listen to your body, give it orders on what you want it to do, it will listen." Cheers and demand the Impossible.

Thank you, this is so my issue with my glute. And it crept into my lower back at the end of 2019. Great information!

Eric - love the book; it inspired me to run as a sport/way of life vs just exercise. I am looking for strategies on how I can reduce my 5k & 10k pace by 30 sec per mile. Thanks for all you do.

Great video. I’ve been having piriformis/hip issues that stem from weak glutes. So many coaches say to activate your glues but don’t tell you how. Thank you!

Thank you Eric for making this video, I may have been the non specific question asker. I will try this drill. My initial question, which was fairly vague was attempting to ask if there is a cause while running that brings about glute pain?

I got exactly this problem. Training for marathon, got outer hamstring pain right below the glute after long runs. Can't wait to test the exercise! Thank you so much!

Thank you for another great video. I watch while doing some post runnings stretches - love the Jackson Hole scenery. Your tips on glute pain and your other video on knee pain are very helpful now as with covid 19 I/we haven't been able to see our beloved massage therapists. Time to learn more anatomy and take care of ourselves. Thanks again for all the inspiration!! It means a lot.

I can’t remember the exact name, but there’s a trigger point foam roller (I think it’s called the charge) with sharp, really pronounced, ridges going around it almost like a screw, and I find those dig in far better than a regular foam roller.( also great video).

I got one called rumble roller. It has spikes that help to dig deeper into muscles. Using it on my glutes is well, extremely painful hehe

Thanks for another informative video. Just curious what workouts do you do nowadays - still the Upper body circuits outlined in your book? And what do you do before and after a run for warmup and cool down? You mentioned doing the slant board work?

Eric, thank you for these videos oh wise, sensei. I suggest a device called a, "body back buddy". Dumb name but it's essentially an "s" shaped cane that is perfect for getting to those high glute areas and lower back. I started off with a lacrosse ball myself but found that the more relaxed the rest of my body is, the faster those trigger points relax. This is THR tool. Lastly, you may want to to look into the Salomon sense 4 pro as another light/protective option for mountain running.

Nice...sounds similar to a Thera Cane I have, will check it out. And I agree on the LAX ball, too small also. Many of my athletes have the Sense Pro 4. It is basically the same shoe as the previous S Lab Sense 6 which was my favorite. I have the Dynafit Feline Up Pro that is very similar and just experimenting with La Sportiva for big days in the mtns. Thanks for the great comments and for watch. Keep 🏃‍♂️💪

Thanks Eric! I like to look of the run squat - will give it a go. I've found that tightness in my glutes and a general feeling of leg instability goes away after a set of sprints (no hills here in Cambridge UK for hill repeats). I suspect that sprints hit this same range-of-motion issue and activate the feet and core in the process.
@BornToRunCoach
@BornToRunCoach 4 жыл бұрын
you got it, but some runners range of motion is so short they cant do sprints effectively.. Keep at it and thanks for the comment.

I’ve enjoyed the saucony peregrines. They just don’t last in the Rockies. I’m up in Calgary. I ordered the Dyna feline you recommended, I like them but feel a bit harsh on the rough downs, could be a foot strength issue. Still searching for the one whip. Appreciate your videos, looking forward to see what you steer towards. Cheers

Hey Mike. Good to hear from you. I am just finishing up a new book, so will be getting back to some videos. You might look at the VJ line of shoes. They have several mountain shoes with excellent grip and durability. One day would love to get up your way and explore your Rockies. Let the melt out begin!

@@BornToRunCoach that’s great news! I look forward to getting your new book, I still reference the other book almost daily. That core work has been my go to for years now. I’ll have a look at the VJ shoe, can’t ever have enough haha. Front range mountains are melting quick! I’ve been thrilled running on some dry trails. Just connected with you on strava, if you’re ever up this way happy to recommend or take you out on some of the local trails.

Hi Eric - Greetings from the UK!! Thanks so much for all your videos - especially this one. I'd been struggling with what I thought was a tight hamstring for years until I began to unlock my glutes though your exercise routines. Cool Impossible and now Born to Run 2 have transformed my form, endurance and, most importantly, enjoyment of running. Got 2 x 50 milers coming up in our beautiful and hilly Lake District so wish me luck. Cheers!
