Do you consider adding a ghost town to the P&B? Or at least some kind of railcar assembly & repair industrial complex would be cool! There are abandoned rusty & derelict railcars on the DLS that could make a very nice "forgotten" atmosphere near the mainline!
@brycetienter97727 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree with Andrei on this. I know that the P&B probably doesn't have any abandoned spurs but still it would be cool.

outdoor railroad museum might be a neat thing to make on the layout. with some old steam locomotives sitting on an abandoned siding now used to display the former "king of the rails".

The yard you were mentioning around 5:00 in would be either Port Jervis, NY or Suffern, NY. The station you used isn't too far northwest of either town and is in my home area (Binghamton, NY), its nice to see it being used by other users.
@ApproachMedium7 жыл бұрын
Yes! It's in Suffern along the Ramapo river.

The Lackawanna Station model was originally custom-made by Ben Dorsey for a D&H route I was working on some time ago. The prototype is located in my home town of Binghamton. NY, and Ben made the model based on photos and other information I supplied. Great to see it being used in a route, nice work as always!

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing that. It's a great model.

Heya AM. Great video and I really like what you've done for this area. Juniata is always a favorite area of mine. Weird the issues you had with T:ANE. Yah, I think I envisioned this area as a main older road for the town along a busy section of railway. And I see it as being updated - older w/ some newer box stores. But whatever you would like. Some side streets going further in to town w/ street signage and stuff would add some interesting details along the route. Great work and let me know if you need anything. Stay safe Texans and Louisianans!

You should put a coal power plant on the other side of the highway at 15:57 not right behind it but somewhere near there.

Fantastic job. Love your work. I am a big passenger train guy, so I pay attention. This is partially a personal opinion, but for a train station, even small ones, there were Platforms that ran as long as about three or four passenger cars, and usually for six to ten cars (longer at Union stations). In most modern American modellers, people don't pay attention. Your station has a platform that is about one passenger car long, which is unrealistic to me. The only ones I know of in suburban and rural settings that didn't have longer platforms, were ones for very very branch and rural areas. My *personal* opinion is that the station would look way better if there were longer platforms, and that t hey were along two tracks (both directions). Unless there are stations that you're thinking of where people just go out to the train but no platform (which I've seen). In any case-- you're fantastic with all this and beautiful work!
@ApproachMedium7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! I'll have to take a look and see if there's a good way for me to extend the platform. I didn't envision this station as being super busy, but I think that's kind of the direction it's headed.

I think the area directly around the yard should be strip malls, gas stations, fast food, diners, that sort of thing. Maybe you could put some larger buildings on the edge of the map to suggest a larger downtown area. Juniata yard and the area around it could be made to look like the regional town center that is the biggest town in the area but still not that large.
@ApproachMedium7 жыл бұрын
Awesome. That's kind of been my thinking as well and I think that's what I'll probably end up doing.

I get the frozen terrain bug and the rotation bug aswell :/ The terrain bug happens when you are editing terrain near track. The game has to inefficiently reload the track for every single frame you edit the terrain, causing a memory overload and freezing the display / updating process while the game scratches it's head for 15 minutes, eating up all of your RAM in the process. There are two ways to fix this bug: 1. (Complicated Method) Allow T:ANE more virtual memory. This method is a bit more inefficient as T:ANE is so pooly optimized that you'll end up dedicating 80% of your computer to run it without the bug. 2. (Simplified Method) Put the track on a whole different layer and hide it. This prevents the game from having to reload it a billion times, therefore eliminating the issue. This is the method I use, as you can just un-hide the track later and continue on. As for the rotation bug, there is actually no way to avoid it unless you want to make a billion layers. So we'll both have to deal with it for now. Hope this helped!
@ApproachMedium7 жыл бұрын
Good to know. I'll have to give that a try. I have 32 GB of RAM so I might try to allocate a bit extra first and see if that'll help.
