Man, I can't believe N3V Games are at it again with a new installment to my favorite Train simulator franchise. I do wish at some point that the devs would focus on the minor details like, the whistles and horns may be having more of an echo, or more rolling stock sounds as the train travel down the track kinda like what they did for Trainz 3 but make it more consistent to always have the sounds, maybe even placing audio when the train crosses over a diamond, that would be awesome. But in any case, I am happy to see that the surveyor mode 2.0 is working wonders for this game as from what I can see so far, it is incredible compared to the original. Great work N3V Games for continuing on down the line and expanding the Trainz universe with each new installment to the series.

Most of that stuff is either already in Trainz or dependant on the content creator. Some recently released rollingstock have incredible bogie sounds - try JointedRail for example

On same page with you. Smoke needs to be substantially improved. The world is DEAD. The game should know if the asset is in a tunnel, out in the open, in a valley, etc.. Game needs atmospheric echo/reverb. I never understood why this feature was lacking. Sure, asset devs can fake it via adding reverb/echo to the recording they use, but not really the same as taking a clean sound file, and letting the sim decide how much or how little reverb and echo there is based on scenery. It's a train sim! What else do we really have? Graphics still a bit outdated vs what the gaming industry is showing off these days. Particle system is almost horrific. To me, smoke and audio is almost more important than perfect graphics. In the case of most all train sims, we get neither. I can't even imagine how amazing smoke isn't top of the list for devs, followed by mind blowing realistic sound system! Same for vegetation. It's definitely improving, but I'm still hoping we'll see RTX utilization (ray tracing) in a train sim someday! Someday......

Trainz+22 beta is available right now and includes the all new Surveyor 2.0. I've been using it for a month now and TRS22 just gets better all the time. The new routes are awesome especially West from Denver and Bairnsdale to Orbost.

Does the new surveyor actually give you better options for terrain generation/manipulation? Like smoothing and/or a bigger brush? That's honestly been the biggest drawback for me and giving me pause before buying a new game.

@@conductorPhil Almost all of the tools are improved, including larger brushes, marquee tool and a scrapbook. Terrain generation tools I haven't had need to use them yet.

Really good game. I know it gets some hate for not including Surveyor 2.0, but even though I bought the game and don't have Trainz+, I understand it's still in beta. And to get this question out of the way, since a bunch of people will ask, no this won't come to mobile. You've got Trainz 3, you're fine. I'm honestly amazed at how half the comments for the TANE and TRS19 trailers are just, "will this be on mobile." Can't wait for the next generation of Trainz to have that question asked a hundred times. Seriously, great job N3V on this one.

I love trainz more than Railworks and Run 8 but here’s some things I think Auran should really focus on to improve the game to a point where I and many others are in love with it.. 1. The sound system is so old… stop using mono… we want more realistic depth in the sound, echo in tunnels and under bridges and so would be nice too. The Doppler can also be improved and I absolutely hate how the audio seems like you can only hear 5% in one ear and then the 95% in the other… needs more immersion. 2. Many other games have smoke that goes around objects so I think it’s time to have smoke particles that are more realistic and go around structures like bridges and tunnels. ( make it so people can disable it tho for FPS) 3. The lighting is better but make it so that the lights slowly start to come to life at night and not all at once.. I want the headlight to seem like it’s getting brighter as it gets darker and same with street lights and stuff. 4. (Bonus) many people including myself like watching the trains derail so if a more realistic derailment could be added that would be awesome!!

Oh boy another Trainz game. I'm sure they wouldn't recycle cabins, sounds and assets from 2004, as it has a subscription service, which means its a AAA game. Surely that has never happened before... Jokes aside, lots needs to be done to make this game worthy of the Trainz name again, like physics for train and cabin, more types of procedural track etc I do like the game btw.

So, do we now have a vastly improved game engine? Do we now have a particle system that has more realistic and lingering smoke and steam(even water dripping from bleed valves and such?) Do we have an environmentally accurate audio simulation effects with proper reverb and echo pending on surrounding scenery? Let me know. I'll give you my money! Other than survey 2.0, what was improved in 2022. Love to see what I'm going to pay for and what was done with the actual graphics engine. Thanks so much N3V.

All that was needed was a Brazilian map🇧🇷, here in Brazil we have many legal railways to put in the simulator, for example the Carajás railroad where several trains run daily with 330 wagons loaded with iron ore, also the course lines with bulk trains with up to 160 wagons

Trainz is a computer programmer's dream. Exceptional development with content, details, terrain, and "game playing." But why don't the bogey wheels roll, and look like they are actually riding the "almost" perfect rails. Every time I watch a "trainz" go by I check the rear end looking for the human hand pushing it. The wheels don't appear to be doing anything to puuussh the train forward. I see no reason to go for the latest edition if one has a previous version that appears realistic to them and will suffice. The only things this update will do is give one a more detailed environment, and months/years of learning how to actually use all of the features available. Unless a "Trainz-er" is happy with creating a Plasticville type of layout, or dream road that runs in circles, then so be it. But if one wants to build a representation of a "real railroad," you'll be fortunate to ever get it all learned and completed. Happy Trails!!

what is the mayor difference between TRS 2019 and 2022 ? I hope NOT ONLY cosmetic, NOT ONLY BEAUTIFY LOOKING... eg. TRS 2019 had big difference to TANE about usage of PBR. Oh, until now, I don't know why we still need to set region when create a route ? It is just left or right handle of traffic ? AFAIK, I can put AMTRAK loco at Japan routes vise versa... or I can put 1435mm train width at 1067 track vise versa... So, region setting is useless...
