There sure is. You can enable it from the Windows Menu -> Asset Preview

Nomenclature standards are a definite drawback to the current Asset Submission "standards" which are virtually non-existent.

In S20 if you choose the "Bush Tool" -> "Ground Height" and then select the "Grade" option, I believe this is the smoothing tool you might be after.

what we really need is some better track laying tools. i really want what Railworks route editor has. including set radius and multi track laying

Drop down menus are probably the worst design decision in editor. If anything you should have made context pallete which changes depended on what tool you have selected and have categories icons of those tools ready at hand.

This is good an all but, i see a huge downgrade or in other words a step back in design, like are we not even gonna get a thumbnails of the objects anymore? If we really don't get a picture of what we gonna place down then like i said before its a step back not a step forward from how the old UI was. Its a super great useful feature of the old games UI why? Cause it makes building your own routes more easy and helps with the flow you build at making areas of your map faster to get down. If we have no thumbnails of what the objects are just names there is a likelihood even more so with custom content that its gonna make building routes in the game a pain to get the right objects we want even more so for those that have shorter memory spans. This is not what we want from a Trainz title! Make a 3.0 to add the thumbnails lol cause 2.0 is promising with how it works now not saying its all bad but has that one big set back we want into the ui.

I agree, a thumbnail is definitely needed. Surveyor 2.0 seems created for those who don't really care about details, they want the broad stroke approach to everything and to run trains as fast as possible. I do my Trainzing from a very different perspective.

In the Asset Palette (where all assets are listed as text in the video) you can switch between the text listing and thumbnail listing by clicking the "toggle thumbnail view" which is conveniently placed on the right of the Asset Palette search bar. A future feature update will see that asset palette listing show each asset in full 3D.

While I understand that Surveyor 2.0 is definitely a step forward, what I see missing is an Asset preview window. There is an image in the lower right corner, but I saw no individual Asset preview as the presenter was selecting items in the Asset list. It would be great if I were 50 years younger and had my full memory capability as I once had, but life has other plans and my memory is nothing like it once was. I need to see what is being selected and 99.55% of everything installed on my Trainz experience are things I will never use and have no interest in. I can filter those Assets out, but I prefer to enjoy running 1880s steam-era trains, not wasting my time filtering out things I have no interest in and I wish were never included to begin with. That said, I am very pleased in the future change to the ground precision tools that will "fix" the horrendous size of ground precision currently utilized. I am a Trainz Gold member because I appreciate the quality of the environment. But I model in a very specific era, definitely not mainstream. Thank you, N3V for a beautiful Trainz experience, at least the small and very focused niche of the whole that I love to be immersed in. Well done.

Yes there is a preview asset window that you can enable from the Windows Menu -> Asset Preview which is docked like the rest of the UI. You can also drag and move it to a custom location on screen and change the size of the window to see the 3D asset much easier.
