I use the 4 trigger system for crossings, because if you do two and you put one really far away, the crossing will stay active until the lest car of the train hits that trigger. The 4 trigger system allows you to put two triggers on either side of the crossing, with the purpose of turning the crossing off, and two on either side that are far apart, for turning it on. Its useful for running trains in two directions.

There's a different traffic stopper on the DLS. It looks like a white box with red stripes on it. I reccomend that one because it doesn't put your road under the ground d

When I attach the road to the ATLS traffic stopper the road keeps going over the tracks instead like yours when you connect the road to the traffic stopper it actually goes with the track like what I did what you did the road with the traffic stopper connected together and it keeps going on top of the track and its at height you put it on

That would be good, I live in Australia and our interstate lines usually have the crossing go back up as soon as the last wagon clears the crossing to ease traffic congestion (our trains are 1500 - 1800 metres long)

Hey AM, should the speed of the train, affect the distance of the triggers to the actual grade crossing? Your demo was great, but that engine, was basically crawling through the crossing intersection ! Thanks, Mark

Yes it does. Depending on your speed limit you have setup on your route, and the area you plan on setting up the crossings at, I would put it out a little further away. Usually for me, I have it farther out at a specific point (after a lot of tests and placing markers) on my main routes. As for my spur lines with speeds around 20mph, I usually place it closer. Hope this helps!

Exactly what Fury said. I'm not sure if there's a particular formula for figuring it out other then trial and error but basically the faster the speedlimit the further away you'll want your triggers. Just like in real life, you'll want ample time for the traffic to stop and the gates to go down before the train arrives.

I'm sorry, I new to the game. You adjusted the "Height" by small increments of the traffic stopper. How did you set that? My game is set at full step increments. Can I adjust this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Great explanation! I guess the main advantage of the ATLS crossing vs the automatic crossings (the built in ones that don't require any setup) is that they look better and have better detail..I'll probably start updating my crossings to the JR crossbucks. It's just like the signals..first I just used the basic ones, now I've been updating to the JR searchlight ones. Thanks for all the videos..I've gotten some great ideas and inspiration from your channel..check some of my videos sometime if you get the chance

Exactly! The advantage of using ATLS crossings are higher detailed crossbucks as well as greater flexibility regarding when the signals are triggered. You can have the engine creep right up to the crossing before it's triggered or have it go off well in advanced. Glad my videos have been an inspiration for you :-)
