@@GravitWry No no, I mean there's a number of series that have the same tone and style of TTTE, but have a different art style with 'faceless' engines. I distinctly remember one of them, 'Over the Hills' being a period tale of a Welsh historical railway being set up. It was pretty interesting to watch, and had a very clear 'faceless' art style to it (partially because it used a different software, but also I think it was a stylistic choice).

what really gets me is that not only did Mr C6 throw out his chance at preservation, but he did so in a manner that genuinely cost the railway company a lot of money in damages to their rails and infrastructure. and it's beautiful that he did it to keep his friend safe. now i just wonder if those hunters were punished harshly for the derailment since it was their idea and it backfired in such a manner.
Beautiful story. A true friend would give his life to save the other.
@jeremythomaswebb14852 жыл бұрын
I can appreciate the story but I can see why Rev. W Awdry add the faces to his characters Thomas. It helps make a connection with the character. Even with someone like Herbie he has some features that the audience can connect with that resembles a face with his bumper and headlights. And the fact that his whole body moves, rattles and shakes to convey emotion. Mr. C6 has the voice down pat which helps convey the emotion and connection of the character but with out a face or point of focus for the audience to relate to visual, it's a little bit jarring. But I guess the reason why there isn't a face with this so they don't appear as though they are copying the railway series or Thomas completely. There's enough there for it to be similar but it's own thing. That's my two cents on this character. :) Not knocking it in anyway.

I just realized that this engine looks like Hiro from the 3D animation era of Thomas. I think C62 is a similar model to Hiro. I definitely appreciate the amount of animation work that went into animating this engine as it's one of the most intricate design a steam engine can have. It's clever that most of the time, the engine is standing still or you have a lot of close up shots or when the engine is moving it's either a shadow silhouette or you just see the end of Mr. C6 as he leaves. It's a clever way to work around the animation budget for a tv episode so that way when you have the full body shots of the engine moving, the animation work really shines through (Especially for scenes like the crash at the end) instead of trying to do that all the time and stretch it over the whole episode. Quality over quantity kind of deal if that makes sense.

The C62 was a modernisation of the older Victorian and Edwardian Era Passenger Locomotives, being comparable to Europe's most modern (IE right before the end of Steam) traction at the time. As the above said it was made using parts of the D52 and thus has interchangeable parts with the other classes, making it easier to produce and maintain due to sharing the same pool of tools.
