Got the version 1, 2nd hand, great kayak. It's much easier to put The Bow section into the skin first and get it well seated, before adding the stern section second ! Also to get the last bit of the keder to slide in, put extra pressure from the 2 side pumps, let off afterwards, then just about 2 or 3 pumps on the sides, adjust keel pump to get desired rocker.

@@Fishaholicboy Thats so awesome!! I really enjoy hearing your take on things. Have you taken it in rough water or surf? I've been wondering about stronger attachments for mounting a camera. I picked up the GoPro Swivel mount specifically to use with the Trak, but I havent been able to try it out yet to test it. I like your idea with the Snap mounts - I'll have to look into those. Also, I'm curious to know how you wash the salt off. I have a camp shower hose, but I'm thinking of looking into a stronger battery powered power washer. I had to replace my Kalleq paddle from salt damage (it till works, it's just welded together now, so it's difficult to pack😂). Lastly, have you rolled it yet?!! I think it rolls rather well - though I have not rolled it packed up with weight in it. Excited to hear your thoughts and looking forward to your next video.

I haven’t taken it to surf or rough waters yet.. will try the next few goes. I really like the versatility of the snapmount. Just make sure you attach it to the deck lines to be sure. It’s a shame to hear about your kalleq but as long as it works 😉 I did roll the Trak but I just tried once as I was with friends and didn’t want to slow anyone down with my practices. I will try more rolling later down the track (no pun intended). I was also fortunate enough to find a really good kayaking facility and they have hoses everywhere.. so I can clean everything off when I’m done. I just wipe things down and let it sit in the sun and also have the breeze to dry it off. Love to see your videos of the Trak!

@@Fishaholicboy I hope to have some videos of the Trak soon! I got the Trak primarily for surf and to use it to paddling trips abroad. I love travelling so to able to pack it as a checked luggage bag is incredible. I'll be taking a series of sea kayaking courses this summer and plan to use the Trak for much of it. Also, do you think there's a significant difference in the Kalleq and the Akiak paddles? I wonder if its just the slight weight difference or if there's actually a different feeling in the hands.
@Fishaholicboy
@Fishaholicboy 7 ай бұрын
@@cre8iveworks there’s actual different feelings in the hands.. and also the weight. Once you use the Kalleq for the day, the Akiak feels heavier. But at the same time, I love them both. I’ve been using the Ipik recently as I really prefer the soft shoulders.. I suppose it is all personal preference

I also had the Pakayak before, now I do prefer the Trak in all aspects. I hope you enjoy it. Some notes; It's way easier to put in the blue bow frame first, then the stern. I'm surprised you didn't do that intuitively. You also deviate a bit from the manual setup, specifically the order of jack installation and coming. I can see that adding the coming after you 'pressurised' the frame might not put it in the correct pin position anymore. Pumping the jacks up rather random than side, then center might lead to unnecessary and disproportional stress on the frame especially on setup on uneven ground. I also keep the hoses of the floaters outside, when I drop the boat into cold water, their pressure sometimes drop quite a bit, so I have to add a bit. If you struggle to close the zipper you may want to check the manual again. It's a topic there.

I wanted to show a full set up video because as you mentioned, most of the other videos out there didn't show the full extent of the set up. On a separate note, I really am enjoying the Trak 2.0 and I think I can learn lots from it. The cleaning is the most time consuming part which I didn't even show yet. @@evanm4995 I was able to test both the Pakayak and the Trak (old version) and the difference is actually quite big. The Trak performs much better, it's much lighter and more versatile with the ability to control the rocker. Pakayak pushes a bit of water at the bow due to how it has to be constructed in order to do the whole Russian doll thing. The person who owns the Trak was also able to assemble it in about 8 minutes while talking to me. He said once you get to a point where you are putting it together without thinking about it then the assembly is a non-issue.

Thanks for the most close-up detail views of the Trak and its components anywhere on KZbin. It will have been a year long wait for mine next month but I’m happy to have received confirmation from Trak that mine is included in those they will be delivering in May. Assuming the setup gets easier the more times you do it. I guess if you see setup and take-down as part of the paddling experience, it’s probably quite satisfying. @@thomaspaine5601 Hi, yes! The front one you can easily pull out of through the space where your foots were. The rear one you can get out by opening the long plastic zipper kind of thingy :-) but you don't stuff it completely otherwise is "complicated" to get out. Rear on is only half filled and you use the space directly below the zipper for smaller dry bags you need more often. Would also recommend a smaller bag you put on top of kayak in front of you because you do not have day hatch. I use the nice one from Gearlabsoutdoors.
