Interesting video☘️👍🇮🇪. The man who grew up in the Blennerville station house CORNELIUS KELLY 1942 Used his own money to purchase the engine 5T in America and paid to ship it back home to Ireland in 1986 Great Video on you tube of Connie’s life’s involvement with the Tralee and Dingle steam train 🇮🇪 Worth a viewing 👀 🚂 on KZbin Tralee & Dingle 2022 - Cornelius Kelly the man who purchased the 5T Locomotive in 1986.

Thanks, I saw it . It is such a disgrace to see it this way after all Connie's work

Get a society set up which has links with the Isle of Man Steam Railway and get a joint venture established to get the railway reopened.

Great idea but the local council have said no to every proposal put to them

I’d love to see this line up and running again myself but there’s just no interest in railway preservation in Ireland atm unfortunately. That being said, if you have a link or a petition or something you think would help get it back running, reply to this comment and send on whatever

I would love to see this up and running again but kerry coco have no interest . The kerry coco Tourism officer, who has been in that role with the last 20 years, actually retired last Friday. So hopefully, the new tourism officer for Kerry might be able to do something are show some bit of initiative at least.

@@morganoflahertymachineryofirel God I hope so, it's such a pity that the only actual steam train in the whole county hasn't ran in over a decade

Wasn’t the line blown up near the harbor during the war of independence? Weren’t they fearful that it would be used to land British troops?
@morganoflahertymachineryofirel10 ай бұрын
Yeah, they blew up several of the bridges. The line was closed for approximately 3 years in the early 1920s.

Here’s a wild idea… What if the boiler were fixed and then batteries were used to heat the water and create the steam? Over that distance I’m sure if you brought the water to the boil while it sat in the station it COULD manage to run on ‘green’ energy. How about Dingle showing the world the way with clean steam? That then wouldnt be polluting at all.

I agree with you it would probably work. There have been so many ideas put forward to kerry Country Council over the last 10 to 20 years, and they have turned them all down . Mostly, they have ignored and not replied. There was a group a few years back that they wanted to rent the train and track for ten years . They had a few investors and granted money, but kerry Coco said no . I must have sent 100 emails to different people but no interest . It is a sad case now

Be worth doing it, tourists would crowd fund it. B great to see it brought back to like.
