It's nice to see some older trams sometimes, but as someone that lives in Rome, I must say they are not the most comfortable to ride. Luckly 121 new Stadler trams have been ordered!

Before 1930, Rome had the biggest tram network of Europe, 140 km if i'm not mistaken. Political decisions in the '30s and beyond basically erased most of it. Now it's only 36 km, but fortunately brand new lines are going to be built.
