Henry also had the 6N2 version of this amp - someone added 2M to my amp. Itll do 800w with about 100w in. Of course, find the manual online and watch your grid current. Over 2KV in there so HV warnings apply!

Very nice Doc! My eyes aren’t great, so excuse me if you showed a picture of it, but do you have a Johnson Desk Kilowatt? Back in the 60’s I used to hear a guy with an outstanding signal who called himself “Joy Boy” and he ran a Johnson Desk Kilowatt transmitter. It was a plate modulated transmitter built into one of those super heavy steel desks they made back then. He had a huge tower with one of those beams that are as long as my house. Man those were the days!!! These kids today cannot appreciate what those boat anchor electronics could do. Btw, he called himself “Joy Boy” because he sold mining machines made by “Joy” to the massive lead mines here in Missouri. It sure must have paid well!

Your eyes don't deceive you. Recent 400 actual pound plate modulated boat anchor monster that was on my bucket list. I never thought that I would get one. Except for the 'desk' part of the desk, its complete and looks to be in really good shape for its age. I got a few projects I need to finish up and then I can't wait to start on that bad boy. Now if I can find a Johnson 500 too.

That one has 8874's so the inductance would be off, plus my inductance meter doesn't go that low.

Good news is I have a very nice one, clean and works great. It can be seen in some recent videos. Bad news is that it's going to take 1k for me to let it go and more bad news is I won't ship. I am in Detroit.
