So thankful for this teaching style! So many educational Ableton tutorials start by assuming the viewer has no knowledge of Ableton. You teach for people who use Ableton but seek different workflow perspectives. Loving this shit!!!

The style of teaching is just so clean. I don’t really make music or produce anything - I just enjoy messing about and making Ableton go brrrr - but I’ve subbed because you just give so much information in such a clear way and I always know it’ll be something new and interesting that is still fairly friendly to a newbie like me, but I’m sure would also be informative to someone who isn’t as useless as myself.

Using a drum rack to control the gating is a master stroke, it allows so much more flexibility in the gating variations. Doubling up on the gate is a great tip too, this is such a powerful technique. Awesome tutorial!

If you want to learn this guy is good. Clear & concise. Ned Rush comes a close 2nd. If you need a tutor look no further. Both men take you too regions others, who call them selves tutors, do not touch or do not have the knowledge and experience. Just an observation made over the years. I know neither of them personally.

Cool. The last part with the sidechain was what I was looking for to get those swinged grooves. I heard that in the old days when using hardware they would use a midi sequence to make a rythmic gate. Probably sequencing and automating cc messages.

Dang I forgot about the Gate Ableton effect, doh! I was about to buy an M4L effect but doing it sidechaining in a programmed gate is much more flexible. I was looking for a good way to separate pitch and gate in the box the way I can with modular sequencing and this appears to be the way in.
