I really like what Giant did and I think this is the best Ebike on the market for 2022 and still way cheaper then Specialized. It has amazing integration on the bar not that huge Bosch integration. So my new bike for 2022 is that Trance.

Thanks for that great ride review! Your laughter says how much you enjoyed the bike. Based on your review (and Steve Jones on EMBN) I changed my pre-order from a 2022 Reign E+1 to this bike (Trance X E+1 with alloy frame, full XT, 750 wh, and Fox suspension) as its more suitable to my terrain in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains around Calgary, Bragg Creek, Banff, Canmore. Thanks for the first feedback on the PWX3 motor! It looks/sounds great!

I have the trance x E, and I would go with the 625 wh over the 750 unless it doesn't add to weight .. I have rode all day and not used all the 625 . I usually only ride 3 or 4 hours a day and usually have 60% or more battery left, if it was up to me I rather it be lighter and have a 400 wh battery , and then if you go on a really long ride just add the battery extension .

Your reviews do the best job of expressing what is going on while you are riding, add just enough of why that is happening to make sense of those tech features, and do it all in a very thoughtful manner. You deserve many more compliments than that, but that's the best I could think of except to say they are the reviews I respect the most. I am a 72 year old rider looking for his second ebike to ride the mountains in central PA. My first/current is a Schwinn Axum 29" hardtail with a Bafang BBSHD 160 nm drive, Rockshox 120mm 35 Gold RL fork, and a Box Three 9 speed drive group built by myself. The bike is completely silent except for tire noise and I really like it because it climbs anything. The reason I am looking for a new bike is because my wore out body is demanding suspension. This bike looks like a very good prospect but my question is how much will I notice the lower power of this motor. I climb 1200' in less than a mile on many of my rides. Should I be worried out less power?
@bikersedge2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate that. I wouldn’t think that you’d need to be concerned about less power. This bike had plenty for all of my riding. I’m not sure about your e bike conversion but this bike is only pedal assist. No throttle.

@ Connor have had more time on the bike and its such a gem. It makes me want to try every steep trail that has scared me off in the past :). The suspension as you pointed it out, is so darn good whether climbing or descending, so plush and efficient. With the E+0, I was mulling about whether I would need the extender or a bigger battery, but at about 10-12% battery use, I'm averaging about 2K ft of climbing, 6-8 mi of distance with the auto mode on. I think the bike is more capable than I am :). I did shorten the stem and raise the stack with spacers. Thanks again for your review, I keep coming back and watching it.

I think Yamaha nailed it with the new motor and the bigger battery and how quiet it is...if only the Reign came in carbon as well, that would be awesome! But the Reign is an enduro bike and needs to be rigid and tough, so the aluminum was the way to go. However, both carbon and aluminum Giant bikes have lifetime warranty so they are pretty good value! First off, brilliant review style. It’s challenging to narrate your thoughts while zipping through trails at speeds that could present problems if you get distracted. I enjoyed the review, am looking at a E+0 (found a pretty good deal on one). I think the E+0, 2 bikes are fantastic value for money. Sure, a Yeti 160E , Specialized Levo etc. might be superior all around, but at about 35-45% more, it’s arguable that you really get that much more performance at that price. I think Giant is making great strides here with these new line of bikes. Subbing your channel!
@bikersedge2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! Glad you liked it. I don’t think there’s anything inherently superior about the Yeti or Specialized. The Trance will give any ebike a run for is money. It’s easily in my top 3.

@@bikersedge Thanks for that perspective. I test rode in a parking lot and no kidding, it climbs like a cat. The power is crazy, I don’t see me in the overboost levels and the auto mode on the motor is pretty impressive. Coupled with live valve on the E+0, color me impressed on Giant’s new bikes. The rear stay length is longer than I expected though. Any thoughts on doing a mullet setup on these? Thanks again, appreciate any input!
@bikersedge2 жыл бұрын
I personally wouldn’t want to make a mullet out of a dedicated 29. I think it compromises the geometry too much without the added benefit of a shorter wheelbase. The chainstays are still the same length so the bike doesn’t get shorter.

@@buckroger6456 I did a 50-mile endurance race and subsequently joined the "Death to Fitness" club shortly after.

@@bikersedge those races aren't easy. I just love being out on the bike so I've really built up my riding endurance over the years. Now I'm good for 6-8 hour epic rides, loaded up with food and water.

They’ve been putting out some amazing stuff for the past few years. Like top notch. I wish they could get the credit they deserve.

They are great bikes but hopefully the controller doesn't go out. My Trance X has been down for 2 months waiting for a replacement 🤨 my bike shop said there are 6 more trance X waiting for the replacement.

I really hope they’ve pulled their head out their asses at Giant and sorted what was one of the most badly designed e-bikes. The suspension kinematics is still really good though. Their motor was strong and had a good feel to it, but the bike was poorly designed and it had such a lack of integration and a rats nets of cables inside the downtube. And holy hell were they heavy! Every bike that was sold, you just knew that it would be back in less than a month, and generally, they were. The wiring wasn’t waterproof enough, the controller wasn’t waterproof enough and to “fix” the controller, Giant just put a waterproof silicone inside, but it really didn’t do a good enough job. To combat this, owners used to put a plastic bag over it to help reduce the chances of water getting in… on a £5k bike! Crazy. I’ve had lots of Giant bikes over the years, and they were a great brand, but they really didn’t care or want to know when we asked what are they going to do to fix the issues, because many shops have tried. Hopefully, these new 2022 bikes will go some way to rectifying this. I hope so. Either way, I’m glad I no longer work for a Giant dealer anymore. Forgot to mention that your trails look incredible 👍

I live in Utah and have one so…. This model is available in the US. Can’t speak for Canada and Mexico but I’d assume it’s also available there.
