Great idea for other pots and kettles! I love these sets just uploaded my first cook on my 25. Gonna have to use your idea

That mesh will probably do a great job at dispersing heat throughout the bottom of the pots and pans! Try boiling efficiency at high and low modes, with and without it. You’ll see! I’d love to hear the results, but honestly I’m gonna make one myself and probably test it out as well :)

It does a good job on my coffee ☕espresso machine, its big plus is you can use pots that weren't going to work on the Trangia pot support legs. If you have one stove you could make it round for the diameter needed regards mike

All you need is a plate over it. I use a gas cooker reducer fits very well. Costs £2.00 from hard ware store. I was going to make one, but this is fine. I have a 27 trangia 2

Doesn't the handle fold over the lid ?

@@kisbushcraftdownunder yes, they do. (Have the three smaller ones). The 750 ml one, once the handle is undone (so it can be used as a handle) goes in just fine. (The smallest one would also. The 1.1 liter will not fit inside the upper part of a -27. I tried it, just like the 750 ml one.) A stand would help it stay at the right height above the burner - both the alcohol and the butane burner. (Sometimes you cannot use the “doorknob” - it reminds me of brass doorknobs I’ve seen in the past - due to fire restrictions. That, and the gas one is *easier* to get a good simmer, say, for converted rice.)

I'm not sure how well that will work out.. all that steel getting red hot will suck out the gases in the trangia and maybe cause something called thermal runaway. done it myself fiddling with my stoves. Only going off what I saw on the vid but that seemed like a lot of flame licking up the side of the pot.

@@kisbushcraftdownunder hahaha, ok I might of been overly concerned. since watching your vid I've been out in the shed modding my cookware. making a pot stand out of an Ikea utensil holder. ground it down to fit in my trangia 28 pan. currently waiting to see how long it takes to boil a cup of water using firedragon fuel. then giving it a run with an examine tab. not that I haven't got other cookware but its so much fun making your own. couple of degrees above zero and lashing it down just outside Manchester.

Be careful! The radiant heat reflects back on the fuel burner increasing the vapouring fate of the fuel and turned the burner into an afterburner flame two foot high ,screaming like a jet engine. It worked fine for about 6 mins then the heat cascaded . After a quick eyebrow check, I vowed to never do that again ! Works fine on gas burner!!!

How hot was the air temp ? I use mine without problems even in the canteen shop stove and that's a confined space

@@kisbushcraftdownunder 20 deg c indoor on the, kitchen bench no wind methylated spirits with 5% water, bench testing, it was as the wire got radiant. Interesting wake up call had, me prepping the fire blanket as the flames took off. A quick check of the eyebrows and the heart rate , no scorch marks on the ceiling... all good!!!!

@@Chrissrihcify I have run mine up at 40+ degrees Celsius with out issues what size pot was on the stand ? Mesh couldn't reflect heat as good as the shiny regular pot base and the pot you would use on the adapter would be smaller than the regular Trangia pots

Wow 60 dollars for a pot stand. That is a rip off. In the UK they cost £12.99 including postage. I have the older Trangia 27 (1980s) where the wind shield does not lock to the base. So to snuff out the burner I just use the pot grabber to lift the windshield off to give easy access to thr burner.

I don’t think we have a trangia distributor in Australia that retail customers can buy directly from so we are left to re sellers and high postage rates
