The Trangia circle part can also be placed ontop of the triangle, at least with its new ish design change adding support for slightly smaller pots. Fun test :)

Have you measured what is the practical minimum diameter pot you can safely use with the triangle stand?
@TaivalOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
No, but it's fairly large. As I mentioned, I've folded the contact points a bit inward to support smaller cups too. But as it is a Trangia product, it's meant for their massive pots. I wouldn't go much smaller than my 1L Toaks pot.
@someroskilde3 жыл бұрын
@@TaivalOutdoors Yeah it definitely needs some grid, grill or similar on top for smaller pots. Does the 1L toaks also rely on having the support studs being bent inward, or would it fit to a stock triangle also? I also have the Toaks 1100 (which is great btw)
@TaivalOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
It's roughly 8.5 cm from one contact point to another, so the Toaks pot would just about touch all three studs even without bending.

Nice video. Are you still using the Trangia Triangle as your primary stove? Do you ever use it for wood burning? Have you tried Esbit fuel with it (you'd need to add a plate on top of the central ring)?
@TaivalOutdoors11 ай бұрын
Yes I still use it most of the time, but when doing winter camping where I need to melt snow, I bring the full Trangia kit. Have not tried with Esbit.

Just found your channel. In my experience with small wood stoves there is seldom enough air flow at the top of the stove where the cooking pot sets on the sides. Looks like it's enough, might think it's enough, but in reality there is not enough airspace from the top of the sides of the stove to the bottom of the cook pot. That is why the minute you place the pot on the stove the flames diminish and it starts smoking so much. A 2 inch gap and a good wind screen would do wonders on any stove. Just subbed and looking fwd to your vids. Thanks!

Thanks for your input! Yeah I guess you're right about the airflow, but then again this would be something I'd do only if I ran out of fuel for the Trangia burner. Thanks for the sub 👍

@@TaivalOutdoors I carry my Trangia type alcohol stove dry and put two Esbit cubes inside with an M-71 stove ring around it. Carrying extra tabs w/it is light weight, won't spill and excellent wet weather fire starter. I just put the cube on a flat stone and put the pot ring around the stone. My emergency stove I always carry is the Firebox Nano with the case. Outstanding, the case is great and I fit matches and a few fibrous fire starters inside the case. I ranger band some heavy duty aluminum foil around the case as a wind break. I found the black flame proof "wind block" that comes with it much more useful as a hot pot holder than a wind break.

@@walkerone9833 Interesting use for Esbit cubes. I like the normal fuel because it's easy to estimate how much I have left and I always put out the flame when I've done boiling water and then pour the fuel back to my bigger fuel bottle. A lot of folks burn the stove dry every time and end up wasting a lot of fuel.
@bushpig81093 жыл бұрын
I use the IKEA pencil holder with a cut out window on the side to feed the fire if necessary. ! make sure that the flame has enough space under your pot then water will boil much faster (in your setup it seemed that the woodsticks were a little bit to high).
@TaivalOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
You are right, I cut them a bit too long for this. But then again, this was more of a proof on concept for the Triangle itself and how well it functioned without the inner ring to give it structure.

I have a very similar Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox Ultralight Outdoor Pocket Stove. I have used both wood and a Trangia burner in it. Works OK.
@TaivalOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Yeah Bushbox is built to function primarily as a woodstove, but this is not. I've been thinking about getting one of those, but in the end I haven't found the need since my current setup is adequate.
@desertchild.2 жыл бұрын
Great job thinking outside the box hopefully you don't warp those panels since they are super duper thin I have a similar setup except I don't have a trangia triangle I use a firebox Nano made of titanium basically the same concept except that is a wood stove that is built around the transia burner
@TaivalOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I haven't warped them yet and I think it might not be an issue since the panels are indeed so thin that they just bend right back into proper place when using the original stove holder in the middle.

Try a swedish torch, dont need it in triangle just wood with verticle and horizonthat whole. Failing that try kelly kettle.
