I am trans. I live in a purple area. The majority of my friends lean right or support Trump. I disagree but they are still my friends. I am invited to participate in get togethers. I am invited to their homes. A trans friend of mine visited town and we went to where I work a gaming venue. She couldn't believe how well liked and popular I am. When I walk into a room it's like Norm walking into Cheers. And I agree there needs to be a middle ground regarding sports. A 15 yr playing softball isn't the same as an NCAA athlete. Find some common sense. I am often misgendered and let it slide but many people correct themselves and I thank them when they do. It's just about being a decent person. If you are then 90% will accept you and "F" the other 10%. I agree with Cenk's views. It's not what you say IT'S WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART.

I don’t say birthing people nor have I ever met a person who says birthing people (this is anecdotal, I know, but I’m saying that me and other lbgt+ people around me don’t). We usually say “people with uteruses”. We know not everyone with a uterus can have children or want them, but the goal is to talk about people who have already or are planning to carry a child without misgendering them. I’ve been watching tyt and contributing for almost a decade now but this topic is always disappointing to me. I am a nonbinary lesbian but I don’t consider myself trans. Still, I feel that tyt is alienating their trans and other lgbt viewers by implying that because the average person doesn’t know much about our communities, we shouldn’t get upset when they say or imply something offensive. We should cater to their feelings and understanding and educate them ourselves.. meanwhile we’re out here facing death threats, threats of having our children taken away, general transphobia/homophobia in our day to day lives but it’s still our responsibility to educate others and try to keep them as comfortable as possible? Would we, as leftists and liberals, say this about other marginalized groups? I will admit, some people do get hasty and bite people’s heads off but we’re fuckin tired, man. We go through the same conversations over and over and over again and no one is hearing us. I’m a butch lesbian from fuckin Missouri, that’s how I live and I’m not a gay man or trans person (who, imo, get the shortest end of the stick). And maybe biting peoples head off isn’t helping but we’re only human. Catch up tyt! I love Ana. I look up to her and I love her integrity. I'm trans and I agree that trans folks need to be more forgiving when it comes to pronouns (which aren't even that important) and the like. Alot of the younger folks act like everyone should ALREADY KNOW. I grew up in the 90s and even I didn't know until 2013. I had the same myths in my head as any non trans person. My motto- Meet people WHERE THEY ARE. Use old terms if that's what helps them understand. Don't be mean or condescending. I do it all the time and it works 😊

It suggests and promotes conflict rather than consensus, and is usually counter productive because the bigots get to have something to point at and say: see, they're getting aggressive, so now we have to do the same. Theres a lot of context that is missing from the point about Anne Andres, the trans woman powerlifter. For instance she has been on hormones for 20 years, is within the appropriate hormone ranges and publicly posts them on instagram. Didnt start weight training until 2017. Also the woman who placed second in that competition had only been training for a year, and third place had just had a hip replacement. So her winning and breaking the record for largest gap in a competition in her age group, has a lot more context than she was identifying as a man in 2002. Also in that same competition if you look across all ages, there were cis women that fully outlifted her.

Even if 1 in a million people have a random rare disease that still means 7 million people in the world have that, what are you doing against 7 million people? Can't have it both ways Ana, and there's no middle ground on some of this stuff. There's no level of inclusion that will be ok for many of the people who are against trans people in sports. And there's no amount of exclusion that's going to be ok for a trans athlete whose life is the sport they love. There's no level of treatment for gender dysphoria that's going to be ok for people who are against anyone younger than 18 getting that treatment. And I don't know how you tell a young trans person that they should ignore the evidence and accept being forced to wait until they're 18 to get that treatment. The middle ground just isn't there. It really is one way or the other on this one, and hanging out in the imaginary middle might win you some friends on "both sides", but I hope you don't think this line of reasoning is helping trans people. To call out trans people for "biting off peoples heads" when they mess up on gender terminology is a pretty clear dog whistle to the anti-trans folks you seem to be hoping to win over. I'm trans, and watching the tide turn against us. I'm seeing the deluge of legislation, built on fabrication and hate, washing down out of state houses across the country. If they find that it's safe and fair under their own guidelines and the participants are by and large fine with it, then I'm not in a position to argue. I'm not an athlete and I have no interest in sports. Hormone replacement makes "competing with other males" untenable. The relatively low number of transgender athletes makes trans leagues untenable. No one is saying they can't play the sport they love, they're only pushing for rules that make it impossible to play the sport they love. You don't see women playing football because you aren't looking for women playing football. The WFA (Women's Football Alliance) is over 40 years old according to their website. If you're interested in seeing women play football, I'd start there.

The issue is that many "rights" that the trans community fight for aren't actually rights. You're not a woman so you shouldn't compete in women's sports nor invade women's spaces. There's a bitter irony at play in your comment. Women's leagues were formed because women were denied participation in sports altogether, with the prevailing sentiment of the time (among men of course) that women weren't physically capable of even *playing* in a sport. There was even pushback against women even being allowed to form leagues. There was never a "ok we should have 2 separate spaces for male and female competitors because of physical differences to keep the women safe", it was "women are incapable of being athletic and we don't want these inferior bits of property polluting our pure sport". This idea of these 2 spaces existing to "protect women" is a modern fabrication. The irony of course is you suggesting separate leagues, when originally, women just wanted to join existing leagues. In a sense, you agree more with those ignorant men than those pioneering women. I don't think there's any question of what you would have told a woman trying to join in a sport back then.

what people with your mindset fail to understand, is that we are ALL in a community together, there is no queer community in a vacuum, your lives as well as all others from various backgrounds have to live together in ways that only work when we find common ground. You can't just stick up a red sign and say don't talk on my issues if you're not apart of them. Alot of these issues arent black and white because we're dealing with social norms that are subjective by their very nature when it comes to their virtues. You can't just declare an absolute truth of concept anymore than someone on the right can with these issues. They will work when society at large can appreciate the value and credibility behind them. To that end, i agree with Cenk, in that most of society will be on board with trans rights because its largely a just and reasonable cause. But there are controversial areas that don't hold the same level of agreement and you HAVE to recognize that issues like that cannot be steamrolled over by sticking your heels down and fighting without hearing out people's concerns and appreciating that they have a right to feel that way, again because some of these things very subjective in their "truth".

Im not against people who are trans and chose to identify with the opposite sex and dress like so, but there are some issues especially when it comes to issues like kids undergoing hormone therapy. I understand why some people are against issues such as kids transitioning before puberty. The effects of hormone therapy are debatable. Me personally i have a hard time believing puberty can be paused and resumed at a later time. But that's open to debate. Regardless, i disagree that a bill is 'anti trans' just because it prohibits teachers from discussing sexuality with students or minors from undergoing hormone therapy for example. IMO the bathroom laws are the only issue i remotely agree with liberals on when it comes to being 'anti trans.' Regardless there are no laws in republican states that ban people from being trans, IMO liberals tend to sensationalize the 'anti trans' issue to a wide degree.

In that case id say that is an apples to oranges comparison. Regardless, there's no shortage of trans people who've reported abnormalities after detransitioning in their adult years (particularly in the nether regions). You would be delusional not to question whether there are long lasting issues for those who detransition as adults. Of course some people hit puberty earlier or later in life, but for the vast majority of people puberty happens in 12-19 year time frame.
