CDR - [trans]LAB engaged emerging digital tools with respect to Architecture and Design. A conversation between computer controlled tools and design assumptions which were based on these tools comprises the umbrella for this lab. Experiment, invention and physical material were directed towards the development of architecturally relevant contributions. The focus was to interrogate digital platforms within the context of innovative building envelopes that were transformable and demonstrate real-time morphological changes into architecture. Chip Clark and Negar Kalantar offered the CDR - [trans]LAB (2014) for a 4th year studio in the School of Architecture + Design at Virginia Tech through the Center for Design Research.
