I’m a woman and had to use a women’s public restroom recently, when I was done and opened the stall door, a very large man with facial hair, in a dress was standing directly outside of the stall. As a survivor of SA when he stepped towards me, I began having a panic attack. Women deserve their own spaces.

I work in a California prison and it’s even worse than you think. The courts, “mental health professionals” and prison administration has created a system for this to occur. It’s no mystery as to why male inmates want access to female inmates. Prison admin is allowing this even for inmates who have not been altered. Furthermore, at my prison we have a bottom altered trans-woman inmate who is still living in our male institution. I could say more but my job could be jeopardized. Female inmates should be made very rich from being victimized by this practice.

He still has the ability to harm women in a way that women cannot do to other women. He can still sexually assault a woman. He can physically harm a woman. The young lady is a perfect example of a failed system that has completely lobotomized students over the last 20-25 years. If you notice, she starts most of her arguments and comments with “I feel that…” This has been beaten into her for so long that she doesn’t even realize she’s doing it. Also, not offending someone is SO important to these people that it is impossible for them to see rational thought when it’s right in front of them. I feel bad for the young kids sometimes. Her "arguments" and "rebuttals" were weak to the point of non-existent, and often strawman arguments. Women's safety is one of the biggest reasons that this is being fought against - locking male-bodied people up in women's prisons is nothing like the same as a random chance attack on the street, the women have NO chance to get away. Transmen - why would they want to be housed in a male prison? It would be immensely dangerous for them! And failing to understand that what is on your legal documents could result in you being placed in the inappropriate detention centre/medical facility just shows an immense lack of logical process.

If we truly want to be full PC, then we need to just build a third facility for "other" that is the bare minimum. Like the "family" restrooms where its just a normal one toilet one sink bathroom separated from the main ones, just do an "other" category. Think about all the kids that would be protected by having a bathroom just for kids. You want to spend resources on people using the "wrong" bathroom? Has climate change and all the other world problems been solved? This is really more important than anything else? Youd rather punish people for peeing in the wrong toilet rather than let police investigate rapes and murders? Or are people not going to be punished? If people arent going to be punished then why ban people from bathrooms? As for locker rooms no one says you have to use them. If you want to then there are probably stalls you can hide in until your comfortable to leave if theres a transwoman in there with you -even though transwomen would probably be using the stalls instead because they probably dont want to have to explain about their transness and just might not be comfortable having their dick hanging out-everybody has something about themselves that they dont like but it doesnt mean they remove it and they might not want to deal with the health problems associated with cutting it off). JW if all men are rapists why would you let them be around each other. Why not have bathrooms, locker rooms and prisons where every boy/man can have space to themselves? And if it really mattered that much then you would support that womens prisons be staffed by only women and had no male guests because women have been getting pregnant since the first time they were sent to prison. If sex (male/female) is all that matters then transmen should be put in womens prisons since theyre biologically female even though some have penis implants. This is really hard to write, and I don't know who needs to hear it, but here we go: I was raped when I was a teenager in a place that was supposed to be women-only. I thought I was safe there, but I was not. I'm in my 30s now and have worked hard to get my life back, but last year at my gym, a trans woman who had not undergone surgery changed right in front of me in the locker room, and I completely froze up. I started shaking, and all she said was "it's okay girl, don't hate." I couldn't even respond I was so frozen. I wish I could have made her understand, but I'm sure she dismissed me as some kind of bigot. Ugh I'm shaking as I write this. I left the gym and didn't say anything, but how is this okay? If you do think it is okay, ask yourself why you feel that the feelings of transgender women should be given precedent over biological women who have gone through real trauma with biological men coming into their spaces?

Of course you froze! That was a normal response to trauma and the abnormal situation that gym put you in. That gym put you in an extremely dangerous situation. I am a SA survivor too. I was only 13. The first time I was "cornered" by a man after the event I froze like you, then ran like like heck!! I have been truly set free from the trauma, no fear/no pain, BUT I just went to a tea room last week and they had a "all gender" restroom!! I was definitely scared to be behind closed doors where men could just walk in and share the space with me. The insanity in society right now is mind-blowing!! As a woman who was once followed into the restroom by a creepy man, I understand the palpable fear of the woman who spoke on the right. The man who followed me said with a creepy smirk that he was trans so it was ok. He was dressed as a male and wore black nail polish. I was terrified and began screaming at him to leave. He refused to leave even though he knew I was terrified of him. The security guard looked helpless and ashamed because he was impotent to stop this man from creeping on me in a private space in a public place (the public library). I went to the ER for severe cramps in my lower abdomen. I was popping pain relievers like candy and it wouldn’t touch it. The first thing the doctors are going to consider is the fact I am a woman, female. There are many things that women experience medically that men don’t. The same goes vise versa. They ordered an ultrasound to check my uterus and ovaries. They found I had adenomyosis and I had to have a hysterectomy. Men will never experience that. You can call yourself a woman or man all you want, but in the end… you are not. Medically, physically and hormonal… you are different from the opposite sex. You can have this ideology of what being a woman is… you will never know what it means unless you are one. It isn’t a feeling. I am sick and tired of everything women have fought for going down the drain because we can “be whatever gender we want”. Boys don’t need to use girls bathrooms in schools. Men should never be in women’s locker rooms, prisons, sports, etc. If you are trans, more power to you. Live your life and be happy. Don’t undermine my safety and security to benefit your feelings.

This is the truth of it that none seem to speak to. Female and male, at one time at least, meant one's biological sex. Gender was the social interactions that came from how a female or a male interpreted their biological body and navigated its presence within the world that was full of other females and males. Men act as they act in many ways due to having to deal with having a penis and testicles, no breasts. Women act as they act in many ways due to having a vagina, breasts, no penis or testicles. Men never have to deal with having a period or vaginal mucous, sore breasts, etc that women deal with, men don't have to at times fear the forceful penetration into their bodies that could lead to a pregnancy. Men can't get pregnant. Women never have to deal with unwanted sudden erections, sore testicles and a feeling of bloating that sometimes accompanies them, nor do they have to worry about if a glance at a man has made that man fear her or find her threatening. Of course there are many other examples, but these are the most basic ideas that help build female and male ideas of their own gender. They are experiences and the consequently the feelings that are built from those experiences. Drats... I lost my train of thought, but I feel I am typing a rant that needs to not be but I typed it so I will post it.

One of the vignettes (scenarios) that was used was about a female who was assigned to be a roommate with a "transgender woman" who is in fact a biological male and who had not gone through any physical transition and did not intend to. What if the rate is higher, because transitioning from male to female brings more advantages, which don't happen the other way. Indeed I have not heard about a problematic case from women transitioning to males, like I haven't seen males security or opportunities takes away from them from transmen. The other way around though, we have these cases, where security and opportunities (like in sports and then getting stipendium/funding to a university e.x) are taken away, based on the bodily realities of biology in males/females in this world. I also haven't seen these problems come up a lot in earlier times, where it was not sufficiant to be counted to the other sex by just claiming to be the other sex, without actually fully transitioning.

What’s particularly interesting about that to me is when I was in my last year of college I had to get a “women’s studies” course credit so I took a LGBT class called Queer Studies. In one of the class sessions we had an outside speaker come in who was a PHD geneticist who was also a transgender woman (born male). She asked the question to the class, how many genders are there? Several of the students thought there were three as in male, female & transgender. The speaker said that there are only two genders, male and female. She went on to explain that one can be trans male or female or more commonly, Cisgender male or female, but you’re either male or female. This was in 2008, nobody freaked out when she said that and nobody blew a gasket and claimed that saying that was somehow anti-trans, and nobody talked about pronouns. Fast forward to 2016 and then now and all of a sudden there are infinite number of genders and claims like gender is just a social construct, not to mention that there’s a population explosion of people claiming to be transgender.

Just because you have not heard rational reasons why the issues discussed are not valid does not mean a rational does NOT exist. Biological sex AND biological gender identity BOTH exist. If you reject this premise you are simply rejecting the scientific consensus. The reason why we should organize the prison system by biological gender identity and not biological sex is because we know for a fact that FAR more trans-woman are physically hurt by criminals in a prison simply for them BEING trans. Their are a few RARE scenarios where woman have been hurt by men whos gender identity was a woman. (this is demonstrated in all the available data). Also, the underlying premise that biological men are somehow more likely to rape people is FALSE when we know that the MAJORITY of biological men do NOT rape people. The issue with organized sports is that it is a metric that evaluates physical capabilities. So, separating it by biological sex instead of gender identity has its advantages. The current research does suggest that being on HRT for over five years does mitigate these physical advantages to a great degree. That being said, I still think trans activist have to meet a greater burden of proof before allowing trans woman on HRT to compete with woman.

She brought up whether transmen should be treated as men too, but she doesn't even know they don't push to be housed in male prisons. At most I found was some inmates complaining about the female prisons not catering to some needs, but not them pushing to go to male prisons. How can they accept not being "validated" in this sense, but their counterparts need to be classed as "woman" on every level. People like her will sacrifice others just to stroke their ego and retain their moral high ground. The prisoner mentioned didn't just impregnate one woman in that prison, he got two. He could potentially impregnate the whole damn prison given enough time and that's a lot of babies that the state will have to deal with. The scary part is how much damage one man can do in these situations. All it takes is one. One guy in a bathroom, one guy in a prison, one guy in a sport, etc. She's being willfully ignorant because the ones dealing with the issues her views create won't be her in the short run.

I disagree, Society puts womens rights way ahead of any rights of man. This is about 'victim groups' and the often named 'oppresion olympics' trans women are more victim than woman therefore there view matters more. This was awesome to see. I may disagree with the young lady on the Agree line but it was pretty spectacular to see her thinking process. It was also really awesome to see the movement from disagree to strongly disagree. Regardless of the proposition behind each question... So whatever the question may be, I find it very helpful and fruitful and just fascinating to watch the process of thinking and reasoning and movement taking place. No, he is not. He doesn't challenge the disagree side but just asks questions about their position and if they like to move. Some examples: 3:28min: His biased question to the "agree" site "What if the treatment they seak isn't the treatment they need" implying that there is something wrong with the process and decision making of the treatment or 5:30min and then compare it to the disagree line where he just asks questions about their position but don't challenge it. For example: The woman on the disagree side made the claim the reason why transgender women are put in women prison is because women accepted misagony 8:16min. This have to be challenged as any many of her other wild claims: 8:30min "Women don't beat each other to death (in prison) but men do" and he just accepted it and walked away. Don't get me wrong I would place myself on the disagree line but as a "moderator" you have to challenge both side even it sounds unreal (for many viewers) to ask these kind of questions.
