@CuteTextSmiliesGirly yeah, im playing second flute on this in our assesment concert thats coming up & omg, we all thought our director had lost his mind w/ making our high school band play this... his reaction was "well, you guys ARE meh Wind Ensamble (adv. class)." ...but ya gotta love messures 116-124 (4:48) & 137-148 (5:13) yes, ik im that badly haunted by this "evil" sheet music that i was able to give u the mesure #s... it only because its the hardest thing i've ever played b4 too! O_O;;

Also, double tounging is a necessity for playing this piece. I know its hard. But the things that I've listed are concepts of being a musician that should be present 100% of the time. I feel that they payed no attention to these concepts at all.

Yes, I played the 1st Trombone part. And I should have made it clear that I was really angry at the director, not the students. If the director was ok with this performance, he really shouldn't be a director. I would suggest, to improve the performance, I would say: Tell trumpets and trombones not to microphrase, work on intonation, and also, play with good tone quality. But overall, this was very anti-musical. And I know its a hard piece. Trumpets have to be very good at playing Cs to high Cs

This is a pretty bold statement, but I guess you are entitled to your own opinion. No need to be melodramatic.
@JacobmbMusic12 жыл бұрын
Sir, yes, you are entitled to your opinion... But can you make your criticism CONSTRUCTIVE? No, it wasn't a perfect performance BUT this is a difficult piece of music... Listen, TRUE musicians do not bash other musicians, but they will try to help them... You've gotta commend the effort here... Nobody wants to hear or read hurtful comments like yours, everyone's just trying to make music here, and you have to respect that... So give your input in a more positive, constructive way.

first of all, these kids are in high school, of course the trumpet tone is gonna be slightly immature. instead of praising these young people for taking on a challenge, you're insulting them. i'm sorry, that's pretty shameful. i performed the world premiere of this piece with my university band, and it's not the easiest piece. i thought the director very nicely tailored the piece to the abilities of his band. c'mon dude, find something better to do with your time than insulting high school kids.
