ive watched this like 30 times but its so good.. i can visualize the scene in my mind every time and its so beautiful. i feel like watching this makes one truly appreciate twin peaks. like, this moment and this song is exactly what david lynch was envisioning as the sole mood of the whole show.. mysterious, emotional, completely encapsulating.. its BREATHTAKING!!!!!

we are in the dark woods now. there is a soft wind blowing through some sycamore trees and some animal sounds in the background. you can hear the hoot of an owl... from behind the trees, in the back of the woods, there is this lonely girl. her name is Laura Palmer, and it is very sad. she is coming closer. she is getting close. now she is starting to leave... back to the dark woods, very quiet and mysterious.

This piece represents the definition of Kant of the "sublime". Ineffable. One of the best compositions ever written in the entire history of music, especially for what it means, because this piece describes the essence of life. Angelo is a gift of a superior entity, it is not possible.
@0live0wire05 жыл бұрын
It's great, Badalamenti is a master. Some of the best film music definitely, but let's not get carried away. I mean there are composers like Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Liszt, Wagner, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Debussy, Ravel, Saint-Saens, Stravinsky, Shostakovitch, Bartok to name a few. That's what I call a tough crowd. It's really hard being a contemporary composer and measuring up to the greats.
@NikolajStavroginKeyboard15 жыл бұрын
@@0live0wire0 Totally agree, I sweated a bit piano and then I also listen to classical music, and I can't but agree with your words, on all those you mentioned I think Bach comes first, personal opinion, even if it's impossible assign the primacy to none of those composers, all of them immensity. On Badalamenti I meant that this passage, for the meaning inherent in it, is one of the greatest ever composed, for me it represents the essence of life as understood by Leopardi, for example.

what a nice video..can someone tell me how he goes from cm to C ? judging from the notes he is using for the melody tho in that part he plays E-F-G and A# so...?? did he went from cm to b harmonic minor ? can someone explain ?
@TedMackey2 жыл бұрын
My two cents - I hear the modulation from C minor to C major in b. 13-14 as a sort of bVII - I over pedal C, with the prominent D natural in bar 13 leading us nicely into the tonic major. The C major - E major tertiary modulation (and then in turn the next move to F minor) are all kind of rooted in the reinterpretation of “Ab” (which isn’t unexpected as we’ve just been in C minor) as G#, to go to E Major, and then back to Ab in bar 18 (but in the key of F minor as opposed to C minor). Then the resolution back to C major for the climax is a lovely iv-I cadence, with a similarly prominent D natural to E natural movement as in bb. 13-14.

@Amethyst_Friend5 жыл бұрын
He is not a genius. He describes with enthusiasm to capture the magic of those moments. His musical imagination perfectly synergised with Lynch's visual imagination.
@fraser_mr20095 жыл бұрын
he is close.... he came up with a theme in 4 minutes. what makes a genius is the magician coming up with his own material on the spot and it standing the test of time. copying other work is easy. the imagination.... also listen to other themes from the 80s, they don't hold up anymore, they belong in the 80s.
