This procedure works for the C540 series laser printers also. I followed your instructions while working on the C540dw and was able to remove the unit.

So I doubt anyone is still here but I have an issue after replacing the parts. The maintenance kit counter message will not reset and going through the configuration menu, I do not see an option to reset that counter anywhere. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

This feature is now not available in the user menu. You need to enter Service Mode.

We had to enter a code from a label on the belt. Sadly said label was missing from the part but it's sorted now
