This is nice to know, that you do not need to drop the drive line.... There is A VERY IMPORTANT step this video DOES NOT SPECIFY!!! The reason the shift motor did not go in the first time, is because it is set to NEUTRAL! You MUST put the transfer case itself into NEUTRAL before installing the new shift motor.
@Apolloneek4 жыл бұрын
Do you just shift into neutral or how does that work without a manual transfer case these are electronic
@BLOWNSST3 жыл бұрын
Nick Levine I believe that’s only when your changing the entire unit, and I believe the gear marker on the transfer case is suppose to face down to be in neutral. You can turn it with a pair of pliers. In this case he only swapped the encoder ring, so all should go in the same way it came out.

Sweet! Springfield, MO? That's not that far from me here in Tulsa, OK. If I ever need something major I'd be more than happy to let you guys work on my vehicle.

It is 2024 now. My 2007 Tahoe has been acting up for about a year. Has all the symptoms described. Does this when very cold, -15 C and lower. When in auto position, it will randomly engage 4wd and have that mild howl/grind sound. The “service 4wd” comes on the dash. Code read is C0372. If I were to go all-in it would be the third transfer case replacement on this truck. I hope the problem is this 50$ encoder ring so I do not have to replace yet another Tcase at 2800$. I just ordered the sensor ring off of Amazon. Crossing fingers that fixes it.

Yes it is often over looked, and use fresh fluid.
@billybobbarker31755 ай бұрын
@@realfixesrealfast Fluid is fresh. I notice there are two types of shift motors on these Tcases, likely changed in the transition year of 07/08. My 07 Tahoe has the same motor type as seen in this video. So that is how I am proceeding. What is interesting is my fault seems temperature driven. When it is warm, summer, there are no problems with the 4wd. When it is cold, winter, the problem is nearly every run of the truck. Even if truck is parked inside warm garage. Drive out I. The cold and within 10 minutes the 4wd is acting up, all on its own. Any additional thoughts with that in mind? Otherwise am just going with changing the encoder sensor ring. The part arrives Monday.

Duane, the audio on this clip is entirely coming through the left ear, no audio from the right ear. It's fine at the intro, which I presume you reused from other videos. I don't know much about audio -- did you use a stereo mic that has a bad wire? Thanks for posting these clips. Nice to know how to mobile reflash!

I'll be darned. For some reason, I always thought your shop was somewhere in Indiana.

Is reflash absolutely necessary?

How do you know if the motor it self is not bad? Good video.

@jeffsmopar113 жыл бұрын
Excellent video as always Duane! One question though! Is the reflash required because of the new part or is it just a recommended update to go along with the new part. I've literally done reflashes on hundreds of Dodges while I was employed at the dealer but I have yet to flash with the Tech2. Would the new sensor allow the 4x4 to work again so that it could be driven to a facility that can flash or is the module "locked up" disabling 4X4 until flashed?
