Thanks for showing how transfer functions are used for actual signal processing. When I was taught Laplace transforms in college, he didn’t mention any applications. The teacher just briefly went over what the transform did to an equation, then showed us some equations and their graphs. This didn’t work at all, and no one seemed to get it. I don’t think the teacher really understood them either because he explained it a second time exactly the same way, then gave up. While explaining the breakdown of a signal into constituent sin waves is a perfectly fine concept to explain in brief, attempting to explain Laplace with a few example equations and graphs over the course of about a minute was never going to help anyone who didn’t pretty much already understand the subject. While I like the rest of the video, I think it would have been better if you kept to a higher level explanation with regard to Laplace transforms (3:40 to 4:37), or if you really wanted to go over the equations, point the viewer to one of the existing ~20 minute videos that explain it well. I know this wasn’t a major point of the video, but giving a brief explanation that’s just L(sin) => this equation L(e) => this equation doesn’t explain the underlying logic of the Laplace, and is likely going to derail some people’s understanding of an otherwise straightforward video. Again, that’s my only complaint. The pacing was good. The visuals in both sections were very clear. And I have a lot more to consider when I start mixing the audio for my own game then I thought.

Thanks for the feedback! My engineering professor did pretty much the same thing, so I feel your pain. And yeah, the pacing for the Laplace transform section was hard. I originally planned to do the algebra and explain exactly what the graph was saying, but my test audience got bored there, so I had to cut it down a bit.

@@mostly_mental Well aren’t you fancy; showing your video to a test audience instead of rendering it out for the first time the day it’s due. Seriously though, it’s a difficult subject, and I wouldn’t have complained about it if I weren’t watching these with the goal of giving feedback.
