FYI, freezer paper is used in the kitchen for wrapping meats, etc. for storage in the freezer. It can be found in the same grocery aisle with plastic wrap and foil wrap.

If you print in black and white you can also colour your fabric with watered down acrylic to make it look vintage watercolour effect by letting the colours blend into each other additional washes will give a deeper colour.

Sonya, thank you for sharing this info - I do use Freezer Paper here - We use to use it on the farm when we took a beef to market and had our various cuts wrapped and labeled to protect them from freezer burn. I also use it for lining dresser drawers on occasion. NOW I'm surely going to print my lovely pictures on so I can so my book with you. :) Thanks bunches and hugs.

This technique has been around for about 10 years. You can also print directly from printer to fabric using starch. Wait briefly for starch to dry slightly, and feed through printer. You can also use a large spoon to the smooth the ink on the fabric. Gives a very antique finish.

Another Fab tutorial. I have done this but had forgotten about it. Duh!!!! We use freezer paper a lot here when you have a farm and butcher meat you use freezer paper to wrap your meat to freeze. Great Tutorial. I use Retayne color you take a container use warm to hot water follow the directions. I put some in plastic tub that came from hospital stays. You want to swish it around every few mins for total of 20 minutes. You can then safely wash and not worry abt bleeding.
@dragonlord06666 жыл бұрын
the reason it's called freezer paper is because it's what meat was wrapped in to put in to a freezer to stop to sticking or freezing together. Also this is NOT transferring a image, it's printing on to fabric

Great tutorial - thanks! How permanent is the printed image on the fabric? Does it need to be set somehow if it's going to be used on a quilt or something else you might want to wash? Trimming the fabric to match the printer paper might be easier and more accurate with a rotary cutter. I would use a pressing sheet or parchment paper to iron the fabric to the freezer paper to get the edges nice and secure without gunking up my iron. Again, one could square up the final freezer papered fabric using a rotary cutter as an alternative to scissors.

Just a side note or two, muslin works really well. Also cutting your freezer paper first can be helpful, then you can lay out your fabric and iron it on then cut the fabric to the right size. You can also do more than one sheet at a time. ^^ I love this technique. Also impt step is to peel the pictures off the paper and soak in white vinegar for 5 minutes. then rinse and dry. The vinegar will set the ink so it stays and doesn't run.

Thanks for sharing your tutorial. I will definitely try this. I just have to get freezer paper which is not common here in Germany. Just one question: I read somewhere that freezer paper is reusable. So wouldn't it be better to first remove the paper from the fabric? You could reuse the entire A4 sheet and still cut the fabric in pieces.

Good tutorial, Sonya. Don't understand the thumbs down gang, though. TIP: If you can't find it in your local grocery store by the roll, ask the butcher in the meat department if you could buy some from him. Or go to your local butcher shop/fish shop. They should have it on huge rolls, and I'm sure they'd be happy to help a customer and part with some of it.

+Merry Johnson & Sonya Stepto.....I don't know if this works BUT Using vinegar to set the colors of brand-new clothing works great. When washing new clothing for the first time ADD your water, then your detergent in your washing machine. Then just before adding the clothes, ADD ONE CUP of Vinegar ( you can use White Distilled Vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar, either one works) to the wash water ......After the first washing like this, repeat adding Vinegar to your wash about every 6-8 times you wash your clothing. I have some clothing that is pretty old ( 8-10 yrs ) and they look practically brand-new because I use this method.
