Guys I live in Germany and watch a lot of Bayern and the national team. Therefore I can't believe that only now Bayern is going for a more defensively minded midfielder. I've been saying it for years a goretzka kimmich midfield is not defensively sound enough for the big games. Look at their Numbers! Good knowledge from Pat that he did notice it as well. And furthermore Tuchel said as much directly after his first few games. He will make them a juggernaut with someone like Rice in midfield and some striker coming in mark my words👀

Mount is someone I can see do really well with Klopp as his manager. I get Man U are playing CL but if you look at it from just the perspective of where the player would do best and what team he would suit I think Liverpool is the best place for him. With his pressing, he's a hard worker and the fact that he can score goals. He would take Hendersons place probably.

The signing of Lionel Messi to Barca makes exactly perfect sense in multiple levels. The only signing that's a bigger priority is the signing of a defensive midfielder, which they dont' really lack options (they have various people wanting to go to them). They're summarized as this: 1. Barcelona have one of the worst attacking patterns of any liga-winning team in a long time. They have severe issues creating chances, and do not seem to have much of an overall strategy when it comes to the final third. The simple way of alliviating this is to have a highly creative player who naturally creates chances in the final third and no one in the world is better at this than Messi, who averages one of the highest Big Chance Creations out of any player in a top 5 league. 2. Barcelona lack money, but Messi's arrival would provide them with more than 200m in revenue during his expected 2 year stay (this was from a report that they themselves made), coming from sponsorships, higher ticket sales, merchandise and other things of that nature. 3. Barcelona ARE HORRIBLE at set pieces. They have not scored a single free kick since 2021 and the last free kick was scored by Messi. Someone with experience handling set pieces is required, and Messi has one of the long ball passes and free kick techniques.

Messi's wages wouldn't be astronomical at all, €13m a year is the reported amount. Not the cheapest but not at all as bad as you thought And a Busquets replacement would still come in, the Messi deal doesn't affect that

Messi returning to Barca for a 2 year contract makes way more tactical sense than people give it credit to. He's (only) 35 which by his & CR7's standards gives him 2 more years at the top and he has not dropped off significantly he's just had to play a different role with a different priority in the team at PSG. At Barca Lewandowski (only) scored 33 goals last season all comps. Next highest was Fati & Dembele with 10 each... Messi gets you 30g & 10a no problems. Yes, he's a defensive liability, but in a real team, when it's JUST him not pressing it's not a fatal flaw like the Front 3 at PSG is and in that case Messi's goals, assists, key passes, ball retention, creativity/dribbling and the 'Awe' he inspires in the opposition is still MASSIVELY potent. Barca won la Liga it's true, but aside from that their season was actually very poor, not even making it out of the UCL Group Stages and then immediately losing to an average Man Utd side in the Europa League. Messi guarantees the league, guarantees UCL Knockout at minimum, and guarantees Domestic Cup runs. He's worth it for 2 years.
@Umbry07 Жыл бұрын
Barcelona has been struggling with creativity in the attack this season, their defending won most of their matches 1-0 and we've seen how they easily fall apart when Pedri/Gavi aren't available. Of course the DM is the priority but I don't think signing the greatest playmaker and one of the best players in the world is somehow bad for them? Good video!

I think you’re wrong about the Messi deal. His wage demands won’t be the same as what he could potentially get in the Saudi League as he loves the club. All the other La Masia graduates took a 50% wage cut to save the club so Messi would do the same. Barca are in desperate need of another creator other than Pedri. When Pedri has been injured, Barca can’t create any chances for their attackers. Pedri and Gavi shouldn’t even be playing as many games as they already do because they will become overworked. You can see that with Pedri’s injury this year. Barca is built upon sentimentality. Priding itself on its youth setup, bringing back homegrown talent to become the managers of the first team and ambassadors of the club. Sentimentality is in the club’s DNA and it has worked before and it has worked this season. Xavi has done enough this season that people should trust in him so if he says he has plans on how Messi can fit into his team then all we can do is take his word for it.

This misnomer about Bayern not having / willing to spend big, certainly on wages, is so weird. Bayern's payroll is TWICE that of Arsenal. €280 vs £120m Also with the imminent sales of Sabitzer, Nubel, Sommer, Tillman, Pavard, Mane and less certain/likely Gnabry, Goretzka, or Hernandez(?)... that would be a net positive account of 120-300m euros. Let's say Gnabry and Hernandez stay for example, that would still leave them at ~170m euros. With the record revenue this year, the club is able to net-spend 100-150m. combined that's ~€300 million euros to splash out. Rice + Kolo Muani and you still have 120-odd million to spend on a central defender backup for Pavard or to negotiate with city to complete the Cancelo signing. Osimhen wouldn't be out of reach either though paying 150 is ridiculous. Enjoyed the chat regardless!😊
@danielkrob2590 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. There is more of a worry they won't be able to ship some players because of their wages. Not the other way around. With Gnabry & Mané tied up to long term and lucrative deals, I wouldn't be surprised to see Sané come up as a candidat for sale. Esp. with Brazzo gone.

These guys are so closed minded. The reasons all these guys are going to play in Saudi Arabia isn’t to spread the reach of Saudi football, it’s to make the country look more appealing and heal the bad reputation it’s gotten internationally. The reason Barca want Messi back isn’t because they need him for a specific position, it’s because he automatically boosts Barcelona’s marketability and makes them tremendous amounts of money. Certain clubs and certain players are just a match that will benefit each other the most they possibly could. Like Messi with Barca, Ronaldo at Madrid and it seems Mbappe at PSG is becoming that sort of player. Messi would make Barca more than he would cost them.

Pepe reinas comments were not distasteful. It’s no coincidence it only happens to vini. Tchoumeni and camavinga don’t face the same abuse. Im a Real Madrid fan and want the abuse to stop but absolving Vini of any blame is stupid. He’s provocative. The abuse is not an appropriate reaction, but regardless it is still a reaction to his behavior.

When did this calling Saudi Arabia just Saudi thing start? Saud is a family name not a place... Arabia is a place

Arabia contains other countries which they are not talking about.

It IS a shame for Juventus because, like Dougie said, it's not the players' fault. Think of their form, especially after the initial 15-point deduction. They have worked really hard, and to not be able to play in Europe would be an injustice, regardless of the directors' alleged crimes.

Hot take but Barca should not sign Messi. He’s going to kill their finances first of all. And second, Barca are a way better team than they were when he played for them. Barca became way too reliant on Messi and were a worse team overall. Now they are actually improving. Plus he’s 36 this summer

Real Madrid aren’t even scary, Barca could still defend their title without Messi. He might actually affect their ability to defend the title

Messi will help Barca so much financially, he will help the brand so much

@@BenjaminKeller you don’t think the commercial revenue Barca will get from Messi joint back wouldn’t help with the debt

Personally just feel if the Messi deal goes through it’ll leave Barca in a worse situation against (at least potentially) a very strong Madrid side next year. Sure it wasn’t the way the Barca fans wanted him to leave but just draw a line, he’s still just on that Cruyff level of legendary at the club so surely the wise route is just to focus on building the momentum from this season instead of getting caught up in this.
