Is the definitive socket acquired from the spraying of that substance? 😮

I believe the spray is just used to make the socket material opaque and more of a matte finish in order to allow the scanner to detect it properly. The scanner will model the internal surface of the socket and use the markers on the base to determine the alignment required. The definitive socket is most likely made using traditional lamination techniques still. The digital scan is likely used to carve out a positive model of the limb to lamitate over and having the alignment included in the scan makes manufacture more accurate, especially if the socket is being manufactured externally. This method is quicker for the patient, but also allows more access as you can have a prosthesis made without needing local access to all the equipment needed for manufacture.

@@Nathan-lt9es Thank your for your elaborate explanation. So the positive mold will be created through the digital scan process and the definitive socket will be finished by the original method. Why in this clip show the time needed is much more shorter than the usual method?

​@monry108 I believe time indicator is more just for the time the patient themselves needs to be in-clinic, not so much the overall time required to finish the socket.
