Boy do I like that background! I think it does as much for the apple as the gradation technique.

Great idea using the value tools. Thats a real keeper. The sponge i started using some time ago and taught my beginners class to do the same. It really is a game changer as water xontrol is prob the largest challenge for beginning students. Thanks for great videos

I am just wondering if I missed a point on the sponge. Is the sponge damp or dry?

Great lesson. How do you keep your water colour paints in your palette so moist and shiny?

I use MGraham paints which are made with a bit of honey. Just a spritz of water and 30 seconds and they’re ready to go. They stay a bit shiny even when dried out. They are fantastic paints that go on smooth and are super pigment rich. Find the link in my comments to check them out.

Very helpful video for extreme beginner like me. My watercolor painting looks dull and matte finish when it dries. When wet colors looks quite dark but not so aftr ot dries. Can you pl suggest

Watercolor on paper does dry with a matte finish. It also dries lighter than when it is wet. Better quality paint dries closer to the color it is when wet. The best way to get your final paintings to not look drab is to get your values right.

Just found you.. thank you so much for your videos. just a quick question please, when you tap off your wet brush on the cellulose sponge, doesn’t it or couldn’t pick up the pigment on the sponge?
@thewatercolorclassroom-bec7040
@thewatercolorclassroom-bec7040 Жыл бұрын
I suppose it could. If I have put lots of heavy paint on it I turn it over or rinse it and squeeze it out again. Most of the time it is to get extra water off the brush and even if it has paint in it it is watery and soaks down past the surface layer.
