Cadwell could be right, but one can not forget that Ancre the gentle Giant who by the way was not canadian, he was french, was aldo a very powerful man and very feroiuciuos fighter and kick ass on the ring, also Goliath had a coat that it wieight 125 lb, a huge javalin just the spearead weigehd 15 lb By the way he was big, if Goliath woul seem to be weak, or sick he would never made it to war, besides Goliath was a Champion no a looser... Mr Cadwell was wrong, the enemie will try the best of his arsenals against you, now it is unaderstandable that the best weapon of the enemy will not be affective against those who really seek the lord!

+Dario Salas First of all its Gladwell not Cadwell. Second, he is comparing Andre the Giant to Goliath in terms of the common disorder of gigantism not their skills, physical strength, or ailments. Third, Goliath was indeed a skilled warrior as a hand-to-hand and close quarter combatant, but did he ever faced a foe that had superior outside range skills? It was probably his first and last time he ever faced someone that fought outside the range instead of inside close quarter range in which he would easily overpower his opponent with his strength, power, and size.

Wow! I've read many of the comments and see that many of you, including the presenter, have missed the important facts about this TRUE story. First, Goliath, who is called the champion of the Philistines, comes down into the Valley of Elah, yells up the mountain slope to the scared army of Israel, cuss them, and says blasphemous remarks about God. And he does this for 40 days. Second, no one of the Israeli military nor the king himself were willing to shut this loud mouth up from cussing the chosen people of God and God himself. Third, goliath cussed and blaspheme for 40 days, but on the 41st day David was in the camp and the bible says these three words, "DAVID HEARD HIM." Fourthly, It was the fact that David heard the words of Goliath that infuriated David. And the cherry on the top was that the king of Israel offered a reward to kill Goliath -- the kings daughter. It was double motivation for David. Lastly, God used David to show or remind the king of Israel, the military of Israel, and the nation of Israel that they are the circumcised chosen people who HE (God) swore to protect. This promise by God was first made to Abraham and signed with circumcision which was required for every male of the nation of Israel. And that is important because David's address to Goliath is that, "He is a uncircumcised Philistine, and who gives him the authority to defy the armies of God." In other words, Goliath was a man who was not under the agreement of Abraham and Goliath had no guaranteed protection from God. So after 40 days of ranting, God leads David to decapitate him on the 41st day.

Be careful because his first facts are wrong! A .45 cal cartridge (long colt or acp) has 350 to 450 ft.lbs.of energy for a standard load. The formula for energy is ke=.5mv^2 note: m is mass not weight! A baseball weighs 5.25 Oz and if it is used as a basis for the discussion then traveling at 35 meters/s (35 mps= 114.8 fps= 78.3 MPH, which much less than a fast ball pitchers 100 mph plus top speed.) Thus ke=.5×5.25/16/32.2 (to get mass)x114.8x114.8=67.1 ftlbs not in the same class as 350 to 450. If you use the speed of a fast ball (100mph=146.7 fps) it becomes:Ke=.5×5.25/16/32.2×146.7x146.7=109.6 ftlbs which is about the energy of a .22lr not a .45 acp. Don't underestimate a .22lr, but it is not a .45 acp. 109 ft lbs is enough energy to give a concussion, break a kneecap, break a bone or knock a person unconscious, but it is not in the same class as a .45 acp. This is why readers should of people who take a straw in the wind and projecting a hurricane!
