Inverter push pull does not use air gap in ferrite when put together. Wrong part number. Old core set may have been for an inductor.

Hey friend,You can't use ferrite with air gap in push pull tplgy. Primary winding must be 2*3 turn not 2*6 or 5 turn With 2*5 turn you are underutilizing the core
