Very informative video! I've been following you for years, big fan! I was very surprised that the Green Bullet element sounded so much better with the plastic removed!

Håkan, I've been following you for a long time. I really enjoy your vids. Thanks for the effort you put in to showing us what you're up to. I am always swapping elements and transformers as well as building and modding amps. I'm a gear junkie! Naturally, I enjoy hearing you play as well! Thanks Again!

Great video! That link to the replacement transformer no longer works. Is there a comparable one still available? There are lots of listings for shure replacement transformers but which one to pick? Help!

Thank you! I don't know. I know it disappeared and I have search for it on ebay but I have not been able to find where to buy these transformers.

Hi Haken, great video. I have looked on e-bay but am confused? what is meant by primary and secondary impedance? and what should I look for?

Håkan.. could you give me any specs for searching for a replacement transformer plz? What is the Shure transformer element original specs compared with the one you replaced it with? How does one choose the better style replacement? is it perhaps just a SM57 transformer or something beefier from the Shure range? Thank you Sir

My favourite is Shure 51A312 transformer. I bought some on ebay many years ago. Don't know if the are still available. But it's the same used in Shure A85F impedance transformer..

Did you gain any more volume before feedback with the new transformer
@HakanEhn10 жыл бұрын
I did not think of that. I only listened to the sound. It's hard to measure differences in volume by your ears.

I have 2Shure 520s one from 58' and the other mid sixties both controlled magnets..now in my search for better tone,I asked my amp tech,,a good tech,,electrical engineer what he thought,,let's try a higher out put transformer in the two mics,,the older 520,did sound better,,the mid sixties not so much,,loader but not warmer,,there are some really good harp mic builders out there, if you have a vintage mic concider what your doing to it,,you may want to leave it be..or ask some one who knows what a good harp mic sounds like..thank you for a great video love your playing!
