The reason why later Transformers failed was there no way to top this scene. Honestly i think the obsession of trying to top THIS scene is why Optimus turned into such a psychopathic killer later on. This scene balanced perfect bad ass with efficient killer, unlike later on when he would rip apart enemies with his hands or shoot them in the head when they were wounded on the ground, here he decapitates, not for show but for a quick efficient kill.
@bob198629 күн бұрын
@@MrChickennugget360 The issue was that they didn't have alot of confidence in the CG or that the audience would identify with the CG characters in the first film, hence why so many of the Transformers scenes are at night or otherwise in darkness. Having them fight each other in daylight Bay and the crew were skeptical if it would look good which is why all the fight scenes at the end are relatively quick and brutal. They didn't have confidence that CG robots punching and back and forthing each other wouldn't look awful and the CG destruction and damage distracts from the CG models flaws. However the audiences did like it, so now they were confident to have big fight scenes like RotF's forest battle, but they'd already established the Transformers were brutal to each other in battle. Hence we got Optimus face ripper.

As an 80's kid G1 was my favorite cartoon, when I heard they were making a Transformers movie, I thought can they really pull it off and make it look at all good. At that time, CGI was getting better, but didn't have a realistic quality to it yet. I went to see this in theaters when I was released not really knowing what to expect, other then basic transformations and fairly decent CGI. When the helicopter, AKA Blackout, landed at the military base, got surrounded by military, then the blades stopped, and.... I was blown away at how FUCKIN AWESOME it looked! The rest of the movie, especially from this highway scene to the ending, was next level movie magic, and it's what set the standard for CGI looking indistinguishable from actual real effects.

This is the first fight that I watched as a kid. I turned on the television on a random afternoon and stumbled upon the scene. I immediately recognised Optimus because I had seen some episodes from the animated series a few years prior. But man, the CGI blew my mind back then. I remember having the same reaction as that kid in the car. On top of this, the final act was full-blown urban warfare, and I enjoyed every second of it. I hadn't seen anything like it. 😂 I used to keep an eye out for the movie every time I turned on the TV. One time, I caught it during the first few minutes of it being aired, thinking I got lucky, I watched about an hour of it, but the Transformers were nowhere to be seen. To my disappointment, I actually was watching Jason Statham's Transporter. 😂😂

The fight serves a distinct purpose, Optimus has to be kept away from the main fight so he doesn't sweep the floor before it even gets going and he has to be shown to be more capable than the average fighter so he doesn't look just completely weak when Megatron slaps him around later. I definitely wish we got to see more of Bonecrusher and honestly the other decepticons as well, they have some really creative parts to their designs that aren't really showcased, in this case the additional claw he has would make anyone else fighting him have a very difficult time one-on-one.

Barricade really just noped the f*ck outta there after seeing Bonecrusher get skewered in the face lmao

Apparently they cut out a scene where Barricade jumps onto Optimus right after he kills Bonecrusher and dies Although I hear it made into the comic adaptation of the movie

Optimus at 1:16 sounds like he just dropped a huge dook after holding it at work all day.

No delay, went for the kill straight away. That's an efficient and effective fighter, not an ounce of mercy 😂. That's Optimus Prime.
@katherineberger6329Ай бұрын
The weird thing about this is that mercy is practically Optimus Prime's defining trait. He would rather risk death than harm an innocent or use any more force than he absolutely has to. The Optimus Prime seen in the Bayverse movies is a very strange interpretation of him.

@@katherineberger6329 Have you seen these Decepticons? They're absolute lunatics and would just reject any form of mercy, so why bother?

@katherineberger6329 these decepticons clearly dont deserve mercy. And they're clearly not innocent lol

@@TheWarmachine375because its foundational to Optimus Prime as a character, Peter Cullen said, when describing where his portrayal of Optimus Prime comes from, something to the effect of be a hero with the strength to be gentle
@TheWarmachine375Ай бұрын
@@LuiBC3 Yes, he got that from his brother Larry Cullen, a Vietnam War veteran. Still, the Decepticons are unrepentant villains and in Bayverse Transformers comics, they used to be the Defense Force meant to protect the people of Cybertron but quickly became monsters under Megatron who gleefully destroy everything in their path. There's no redeeming them.
