From what I remember he didn't stand a chance against Megatron and this was the 2007 Megatron in the lore apparently he's the reason why lockdown has the scar on his face and chest he's a good combatant tho I'll give him that

After watching Megatron flounder helplessly for two movies, here comes Lockdown, who decorates his spaceship with live Dinobots and far outclasses Optimus in a one-on-one fight. One of the most badass moments of the movie was Lockdown walking along that country highway, leading his spacecraft towards an incapacitated Optimus. No trace of hurry or panic, no concern or doubt. If you need a little confidence in your step, walk like you just kicked Optimus Prime's ass for the second time.

One thing you gotta give Lockdown credit for is the fact that he was the only villain who came close to killing Optimus. Not to mention that unlike some of the previous villains like Shockwave who were just advertised extras, Lockdown actually manages to nearly succeed with his goals. When this theme plays, it gives off a sense of how dreaded he truly is to the autobots

One last thing is how I love how the song perfectly conveys Lockdown. The synthesized beats give off a mysterious vibe, befitting how he works with the enigmatic “creators” of the Transformers. The drum parts of the song create a sense of power which represent how powerful Lockdown truly is

My reason is the villain or a antagonist is never on the screen most of the time, it’s the protagonist. The last thing you want to do is make your main villain forgettable who is not even on the screen most of the time. You need to make that character strong to make him the big threat but also a goddam good theme to make people, know that shits about to the fan when the villains theme is playing.
