I actually love this optimus design,the way that he looks with that rusty-junk design make him more much better imo,this optimus version still holds a place in my heart to this day,i hope we can see him in other TF medias,his design is remind a little pit of the 86's prototype optimus or the beast wars protoforms

I just love the little references to the g1 prime toy here like the naturally curved elbows, the gun that can't be hold by the "correct" handle, the entire truck mode look, the wheel placement with four on the bottom and two up at his waist, the truck dimensions that are practically identical to the original. Those things kinda hinder the toy from being perfect but damn if those aren't some neat references

Fun fact: you can give this shotgun to DOTM Voyager Megatron and he can hold the handle properly with the finger on the trigger, also the port on his back makes for an absolutely excellent spot to put it diagonally like in the movie

I think the Rust style paint looks really good in vehicle mode but I think the colour should have been carried over to the robot mode instead of that odd “Milky Way” colour that it has in robot mode

I bought the 2 pack from TRU that came with the classics Optimus, that set was incredible value for money! I remember it being like £40, perhaps even less. The Evasion Optimus was painted oddly though. Still baffles me why they decided to make the collector oriented figures from AoE TRU exclusives. That was a dark time to be a TF collector in the UK.

I personally really like this design, if they would give him the squeaky clean paint job with a kind of metallic red, blue & silver and a better designed blaster. Really cool 🤙

This figure was always my favorite of the Optimus Primes. I think you should track down the Weijiang Evasion Mode Optimus rusty ver. and do a review on him! Phenomenal review as always PvP :)

I have the Breakout Battle version that came in a Platinum Series set. I like the darker colors on that guy more and the set itself is pretty nice to have in packaging because they did try to stimulate the evasion scene.

I remember the excuse Bay and his team gave for Optimus Primes vehicle mode in the original live action movies was that he couldn't do the OG G1 truck mode because it didn't have enough parts or mass. Fricken liars. I loved this figure despite not being a big movie fan, the toylines got some great figures.

I know that hasbro and Takara tomy took inspiration from this optimus prime mold by using the leg configuration to the 3 studio series Bayverse Optimus Prime how the legs form the back part of the truck mode

I just got the Movie the Best Takara version, and I adore the mold, but I chose that one because it feels more movie accurate with the muted and desaturated color pallet, that's entirely personal preference, but I adore that there are so many options to choose from

I had the original voyager evasion mode Optimus prime and I didn't much care for the figure. It was my first one after many years as well so I was a little disappointed and wish I went with the leader grimlock as he was available when I got Optimus. The proportions and paint didn't coalesce into the figure on screen in my imagination, not to mention some of the pieces made the transformation really awkward.

I know i’m late but did you know that the truck mode isn’t the same as the one in the movie? The truck is based on the G1 truck. I noticed that when I took my old G1 coloured Evasion mode, Even in robot mode he is G1 coloured (aside from the blue plastic shoulder)
