I just got the Earthrise Leader Optimus, and I gotta say, the plastic also feels cheaper. Not only that but his waist is super loose on my copy and there’s a ton of paint bleeding around the abdomen section with the silver paint. Still wished he came with Roller. I’ll wait until this Megs is on sale since the Siege Megs are pretty bad shelf warmers in my area. There’s Megatrons everywhere.

I know a lot of people would like Megatron to be a gun again and I love G1, but in my opinion I think the gun mode is kinda stupid. I mean the lord of all Decepticons arch enemy of Optimus , turns into a gun... What !! He is the leader he shouldn't have to be held by his troops. especially when it's Starscream. But a tank I think that fits Megatron to a T you get the best of both worlds. He is still gun but he can move on his own. And do massive damage. So yea tank Megatron please. P.s. I don't know why people are hating on this. I like it so much better than the first. As a figure, the headsculpt is waay better, the torso is more accurate to the cartoon. The tank has better threads and actually looks like a tank. Most importantly, I love the design progression shown by both modes.

That Chain flail fits overly tightly in Siege Megatron's hands, I wonder if it fits more smoothly in the Earthrise one's hand ? One feature some people might like to remember later on is that part of Megaton's turret also turns into a a section of a spear for Scorponok - in combination with some other parts..

I had both. I ended up selling my Earthrise Megatron because I liked the Netflix Megatron so much more. I think that if it was only between the Siege Megatron and the Earthrise Megatron, then the choice would be easier. The 35th cell shaded looks great as well.

Nice review as always bro. Though I already knew I was passing on this having the netflix version with the crotch swapped with regular siege gives him no battle damage (spots). Think he is the definitive g1 styled Megatron for the WFC line. Though Kingdoms looks great for being a beast wars version and will pick it up. Now we got to see will Galvatron be kingdom or studio series? I don't think we will be waiting long to find out .

Well, the original G1 Megs WAS just 16. And it's got significant differences from 16S or even the Collection reissue: the absosmurfinlute original Takara G1 Megs was effectively a repacked Micro Change MC12 Gunrobo in Megatron colors...but no chrome, no stock, no silencer. The 16S version is basically Takara's version of the Hasbro release...except it still had the pellet firing mechanisms, unlike the neutered Hasbro one. Guessing that those early figures had the C or D prefix added later. 🤷🏽‍♂️ As for Earthrise Megs...nope, I'm good with Siege. If it hasn't been done already, some third-party will make a more G1 accurate fusion cannon for Siege Megs.

Unfortunately, you were correct about the tabs on the treads. My little brother has one, and a tab did break off. And, the peg on the underside of the tank mode cannon was very sloppily made and did not want to stay on. I had to shave out quite a bit of the hole on the left forearm so we could pull the peg out and be able to transform him. Not to mention the fact that within three days of him lightly playing with it, one of the tank treads on the front of the tank broke off at the hinge. Don't have the Siege Version, but BOY DO I WANT ONE

Takara might be able to re-issue Gun Megatron, but to be honest and older toy is a better buy, it might have the firing mechanism in it still & if you want a loose one they are plentiful still, Hasbro have flat out said they wouldn't re-issue Megatron in this from for a list of reasons as long as your arm. If I was going to gush over a G1 megs it would likely be over one of the re-release repaints I forgot to buy, I didn't bother with all the colours they sold before. But i'm happy with the chrome one, but that flat grey 'Megaplex' one still looks appealing to me.

Earthrise Megatron. Is cool. His box art on the side of the box is awesome. His body looks more G1 then Siege. But the Siege and Netflix figure still beats the Earthrise figure. His tank barrel on one end and the sword on the other end weapon. Seems unnecessary. Should have been separated weapons. Also the head sculpt. Didn't really needed to be remolded. He reminds me of looks like Lord Farquaad from Shrek. His earth tank mode is awesome.

In honesty I do like the seige Megatron ( Netflix Exclusive version) , but I will say that I do lve Earthrise Megatrons Robot mode better they only small nitpicks i say have is the fact the sides of his waist shouldve been painted red as opposed to just being gray with the rest of his body if would've add more of the g1 cartoon look they're going for and I do think the legs on Seige look slightly better, but overall it doesn't look that bad

This is the Megatron we deserve, not the one we need ;). Ok, seriously, I pretty much agree with your review. I'm indifferent regarding partsforming/shellforming (though the former often seems like result of laziness, cutting the costs and/or rush), especially that Hasbro slowly is making people getting used to it throughout entire WfC. Two things put me off - that sword-whatever thing - it seems there's no way to make it not look dumb in robot mode. The second one - Hasbro really missed an opportunity here to improve this design - if only feet could flip 180* towards the inside of the shins, that would make tank mode look so much better... All in all, easy pass for me, maybe on clearance I would give it a go...

Personally, as a fan of Megatron myself, I always hated the gun, and always will. The only key to making gun Megs work is if Hasbro makes him as a jet. You know, the gun's grip can be the jet's wings, and the Fusion Cannon as the nosecone. Not entirely accurate to the character's original gun mode, but still better than a tank.

Now handling the Netflix one I finally got...yeah, while the Abrams-esque design for Earthrise does look better, it's the partsforming and that sickly-looking head that kills it. But having an obvious alien H-shaped hovertank, it certainly fits an evergreen Megatron, whose contempt towards the idea of hiding amongst the humans is way older than I thought. Like G1 cartoon old, in Season 2, when they all got drunk on Energon. The neat Abrams look just isn't worth all the missteps of the Earthrise, so glad to stick to my Netflix Megs
