I always try to do a 'how to spot' guide when I do these KO G1 figures. I have a good friend who just got ripped off with one of these the very same week I got this one. He was out of town and some 'collectible' store had one of these with a really old dept. store price sticker on it. He paid $150. It absolutely hurt my heart to have to tell him and show him my box compared to his alongside pictures of the real one. I don't have a problem with KOs as long as they're presented as such but can't stand when people try to pass them off as real for profit. Thanks for watching and supporting!

Some other tips to identify KO Primes is that the Ravage on the back of box art is cut off at the top and the head is not screwed on the robot body. Aside from that I absolutely love these and have all 6 versions

I absolutely loved you going over the KO (Tells) on the box, great info to know. The differences outside of the box are night and day to someone who knows G1 Prime. Great idea doing price comparisons with the $50.00 Walmart cab. This would be a great purchase to display in the box for me.

Thanks brother. I always try to do box tell signs of KOs when I do these figures. I think it's great they're out there, but it's awful when people try to pass them off as real for profit. I love this KO. I have two copies of it, one that was for my son's birthday (3+ years of toddler play, still functions even if I had to do arm repair once), and one for me in package on display. This is a near perfect KO, in my opinion, and EASILY worth the price. I can't believe Hasbro tried to get 50 for the last cab only reissue and this is out there for 40 bucks. Cannot recommend highly enough! I have noticed there tends to be 'swirls' in the plastic of the trailer on the KO's, as another identifying mark.

I brought some of these kos 12-13 years ago and these were 90 percent accurate from the filmAtion. The color of the cab and everything. Now the cab is a darker red and everything now is loose.

Great review on the KO! I was trying to find just the trailer so that when the Toon version of Missing Link Prime is released, I'd have a trailer for it. eBay is a crap shoot as all I can find is OG G1 trailers in bad shape, or sellers want waaay too much. I'm on the fence about giving this KO a shot. I have a 2002 Commemorative reissue that I may just use the trailer for Missing Link Toon Prime instead.

Regarding the loading mechanism: I dont have mine (KO & Originals) on hand but, I think in the US versions underneath the launching mechanism, that is in the bottom of the trailer, you can find a small line of plastic intended to act as a stopper. That one might have it as well. Very interesting review. The KO I got about a couple years ago seems to be a replica of the common mold. Had I knew such a copy would surface, I definitely would have waited to grab this.

@@BertTheStormtrooper A bit to reply but with my experience with this KO, I noticed that the reason the forearm stickers would get damaged because under the chest panel, there is this extended sharp piece of metal and I think that's a mold issue. That would cut the sticker AND the plastic part of the figure so I just removed the forearm sticker and now there isthis ugly cut stress mark. The stickers on the shin are too large so that will fold and bend easier over time. Also with my one, the cab actually sits up straight and the trailer closes nicely on mine like the real reissues.

The forearm sticker issue is from the thin metal piece inside the cab, that holds the diecast windows in place. It was cutting into the actual plastic on mine. I had to remove it. I need to find somthing to replace it.

All the original g1 Optimus had the hub caps like the ko. The reissue from hasbro are closer to the g2 primes. My ko prime has the exact problems yours does. But for the $$ it’s great. Good review

They’re more differences which are molded differences basically the bumper is less detailed the lights also don’t have the molded headlights and the wheels are also different. But what is weird is that previous ko’s from 7 years ago and more than that actually have all the details except for very minor ones like the boxes are the same but the details that were there were molded bumper and lights and the wheels are all the same compared to the original G1 prime i believe they looked like that until about 2019 either the Chinese company that produces them has cheapened out or a new company is producing them now.

I got a KO Prime a few years back, but mine has the same head and fists as the original American release. I also got an all-black KO a few months ago and it has all the same mold differences as the one in this video. I'm guessing that it depends on which KO manufacturer you order from.

Yup, it seems completely random depending on the seller and when you purchase it. I feel really lucky to get this particular version as it's a perfect candidate for a Diaclone stickers

I got mine 10 months ago it is also the same one in this video and they used pictures of the ko with the all the details of the original 1984 prime my theory is that around late 2019-2020 another Chinese company started to produce them hence the differences. Honestly in my opinion they should have all the molded details like the 84 prime because at least it is good

How many coats of nail polish do you need to put on the wrist of prime? And do you have some tips on how to fix the loose arms? Its my first time fixing a loose joint 😅

I just do one, let it dry and test fit. Very rarely do I need to do more. With this figure, most of the joints can be tightened with the screws. On occasion you may have to open it and apply clear nail polish to the inside of the joint as well. Use sparingly and allow to completely dry before putting back together. Putting joints together with wet nail polish will cause them to 'glue' together and likely break when you try to move them. Good luck and thanks for watching.

The awful color matching on the cab kills it for me. Before one could catch the logo placement or fuzzy pictures on the box, the sharp color contrast stood out like a sore thumb right through the box. It's still tempting as I never got a trailer with my Walmart copy.

Optimus prime box has been reproduced 3 times - version 1 (v1), version 2 (v2) and version 3 (v3). The grey border line showing above the trailer's window is probably the most obvious tell. On the v1 box the border is quite thick On the v2 and v3 box it is thinner, similar to the original 1986 European quad-lingual box, which does have a thin grey border around the entirety of the window. So its not true that every one that has a border around the window is a KO.

It’s not a QC issue problem with the trailer but rather new versus old. Age loosened the older trailer whereas the other is fresh.

wow, prime porn! lol my original g1 in the uk, back in the 80s, never came with a factory applied stripe, but did have metal inserts in the trailer panels and massive fists on prime. its not a fuel pump, its an arc welder, for when the trailer is stood up and the diaclone driver, with magnetic feet, could stand and weld prime. yep, your bang on with the pre hasbro diaclone molding of prime, the trailer is the clincher, diaclone all the way.
