Yeah, maybe they should have included a little Bio book with the comics you get to make it easier to tell who's who so you don't get confused or lost on each bot. I added a bio into my fanfic so it would be easier for those reading it to know which character is which and so they don't get confused.

I personally imagine that this version of the war reaches Earth because it’s just outside of Quintesson territory. When Exarchon explored the planet, the Quintessons realized Cybertronians would soon follow with Titans and turned Exarchon into their warrior. The Decepticons thus decide to attack Earth thinking they can draw out these aliens, crush them, then use their tech to finally end the war. The Autobots naturally move to defend humanity and initially also defend the Quintessons. Maybe they even have plenty of organic alien allies. Eventually, the Quintessons decide to wipe out the Cybertronians once and for all. Maybe the Autobots and Decepticons team up again. I also like to imagine that since a lot of the obscure characters to gain recognition were Japanese Transformers, this version of the comics have the Autobots and Deceptions center the war in Japan rather than America. It does make me wonder though if they would get a more positive reception. While the Autobots are treated like heroes in the cartoons, they’re instead viewed with fear and hunted down by Americans in the comics. Would things in Japan be more like the comics or shows? I like to think the former to reflect on the Japanese origins of most Transformers toys, but comic humans on average are quite fearful of the Cybertronians regardless of factions and intentions.

Emperor Kumquat, could you do a video analyzing the Marvel, 2005 IDW, and Bay Movie humans hating the Autobots and determine if such hatred goes too far. I mean, I get that naturally humanity is going to hate being in the middle of a war or never asked for, a war that could destroy the whole planet. But it can seem annoying given how they target Autobots as well as Decepticons despite the former trying to protect them and mostly never fight back against the humans, even when Autobots are killed or injured. Are the Marvel Comics, IDW 2005 Comics, and Bay Movies being way too cynical with how humanity would feel about being dragged into the Great War or are they being reasonable with their depictions?

What others see as a flaw in pacing, I see as a strength. Of course things are kind of slow at first... life is _normal._ Things start spiraling out of control and then the pace of events starts accelerating wildly at the end. That's _actually how wars start._ And I _loved_ how they gave a little bit of time to a large cast of characters. It's like Game of Thrones with robots.

OOOOO, this was my favorite comic back in the day! I really love the fact that Transformers finally dipped into history and culture and started explaining family relationships using examples of robot families rather than adding humans. Because when I read a robot comic, I...well...want to see robots, not humans It was a really fresh take on the universe, because previously for a drop of Cybertron's social structure (I LOVE WORLD BUILDING) you had to re-read tons of comics. The fights are fun, but it's nice to have a comic built on more than just them It was also nice to see previously familiar characters. Gave more time to Lightbright, got a new look at Strongarm (evil mother... ⚆‿⚆) It's sad that the creators started running out of time in the middle of the comic, so some of the arcs were first really stretched out and then cut down a lot. AND IT'S NOTICEABLE... More and more often there were situations when in one issue the characters are on the verge of death, and in another they appear as if nothing had happened because they "managed to get away"

This video was a great summary and I think you got me sold on finally reading the series! I'd definitely not liked the reboot before this since IDW1 was so dear to me but the refreshed, non war-centric concept actually does sound quite interesting. Thanks for making this!!!

Cosmos and Blastoff is Adorable and I'm very upset they didn't get to continue that story They only had 3 years which sounds like alot but for a comic universe like this ITS A DROP IN THE BUCKET That and all the crossovers and alternative universe stories they were pumping out like SHATTERED GLASS TF vs terminator vs mlp part 1 and 2 Ghostbusters vs TF and more its no wonder we didn't get more time with these characters and they rushed alot of it Alot of my complaints about the series can be blamed on IDW losing the license made them speedrun alot of arc's

Oh thank GOD IDW2 changed why the war started. Always really left a bad taste in my mouth how Decepticons where basically oppressed workers and the war started due to their unfair treatment. It never sat right how the series would have such a valid reason for fighting in unfair conditions to the “villains” and not the hero’s. It’s so refreshing to see this change especially now makes the Autobot a more fair and open group to everyone while having all people even oppressed at their side. To fight for what’s right. The line “Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.” Rings more true now. Without having to tarnish why the oppressed fight in the first place.

This continuity was doomed from the moment IDW decided not to incorporate its 3 most popular characters from its previous continuity. It's sad that we couldn't see an adaptation of Grimlock, Hot Rod and Drift... Still had potential, but I don't forgive what they did to Deathsaurus.

I ended up skipping out on this series after reading through all of IDW 2005. While I do enjoy the simpler art style and the general lighter tone (IDW 2005 got pretty dark) at the time I didn't think I would be missing much. Seems like the series was a little bit of a mixed bag, but still, somewhat enjoyable.

After the many many MANY "creative liberties" the previous IDW run had taken with the Transformers mythos, a new run with a less extreme tone felt most refreshing, if underwhelming in some areas; that's what I think of the IDW19 comics at least.

I'm sorry, but I must say I was very disappointed by this series. While they had some very interesting ideas, they just crammed far too much stuff and people into it and then just dropped most of them halfway through. People just suddenly disappeared. While reading, my most reocuring thought was "we haven't seen (insert character name) in a while". Also Firestar is probably my most hated character of all time. Her design was cool, but I'm sorry, whenever she talked my brain got angry. Overall, it pains me to say, but the series was just not well written. People say that it wasn't meant to be another MTMTE, but in my opinion that's exactly what they were trying to do. At least at the core of it all. It shows in the cameos and appearances of old characters and in the overall structure of the story.

IDW 2 committed a major sin. It was plainly boring. There were many times when I just forced myself to read on just to see how it plays out. The funniest thing is that if you retell the plot and events, it sounds pretty good. But the execution was terrible. Longwinded dialogs, horrible art, meandering story. For all vices of IDW 1, IDW 2 was an inferior mess.
@cassiopaia31537 ай бұрын
I agree with that. IDW 2 was Transformers Version of "The Phantom Menace". The amount of time spent on people talking and walking. While they had some interesting ideas but they just tried to cram as much stuff into it as they could and then just dropped most of them half way through. People say that the comic wasn't trying to be another MTMTE, but in my opinion that's exactly what they tried to do. It shows in the cameos of old characters, the huge cast and the overall structure of the story.
