I do love the vehicle mode! The robot mode feels a bit too wide to be Knockout though. Cause that was his whole vibe, was to be a sleek. But it's kinda growing on me.

This was so close to being perfect for me. I really don't know what went wrong with the face, but something *obviously* did. Those weird lines under his eyes and his dull lifeless squashed expression leaves much to be desired, and I'd argue even that the head of the kingdom bw terrorsaur is a better fit for the character. It's still, regardless, an impressive retool/remold(?) of ss86 jazz, and I feel that every other aspect of the figure honestly looks great. Overall, I'm more than excited for the potential future "prime universe" legacy figures, and hopefully we can get an optimus before too long.

yeah, i felt the same at first, but the head slowly grew on me... oh yes, i would love to see a Legacy Primeverse Optimus Prime and Megatron !

One thing I like about these new Prime figures is they’re a second chance for those who didn’t get the old ones. I don’t have the original Prime Knock-Out so I will be happy to add this Legacy one to my Prime shelf. However I do own the Prime First Edition Bulkhead so I have the option of adding the Legacy one to my G1 collection as the G1 Bulkhead. However I am debating on a third option; I own the 2012 Arcee figure and I’m debating on getting rid of that in favor of the Legacy version which I seem to be liking better than the old one

i think it's ok to keep both versions of the figures bro... since they're like variants of each other...

I kept looking at the old Knock Out figure in Sonny's Toy Art in ATC and...the mold wasn't hitting me. Then, I got the Bluestreak-colored redeco of Beast Hunters Knock Out from Takara last year, and it was nicer, but the figure still wasn't too good. This, OTOH, is honestly the much better toy he needed. It actually wears the mold much better than it does Jazz, coz it actually looks stylish and not boring, and, according to yours at least, seems to have fixed the primary issues Jazz had, primarily the tolerances and, our tropical weather forbid, the clear plastic. Legacy clear plastic is apparently stronger, so let's hope. Perfectly happy to let Knock Out use the mold while my Jazz is United. Deeper red's nice too. OG toy is kinda too bright neon. Arms aren't clear plastic and cumbersome, so that's good

The comparison clips at the start are a really great way to start the vid. Love the alt mode (that's how he's staying in my collection). Considering Knock-Out's extreme vanity, it's comical to see him here as a chunky G1 styled toy.

I don´t really feel like it´s a lame excuse personally. I tend to not display figures together if they are aestheticly differents (animated vs G1 for exemple). The line looks more like "what if those prime characters were in G1 from the start ?" Like a "what if ?" Good review by the way ^^. The figure looks great ! The only thing it´s missing is a Split in the hood to break the blockiness of the torso (but i get why they didn´t do that)

I'll be very honest... I did like this knockout, I don't know, maybe it's because I see it with that design in the wreckers comics, maybe it's because I really like the knockout character in prime but I really like this figure.

I like this mold, just as I like '86 SS Jazz. But it still has the same issue that makes me reluctant to get either figure: the entire top of the car/back of 'bot being clear plastic. If HasTak can remake it with no clear plastic (ref: Cliffjumper & Kup), then I might get one.
@chefatron2 жыл бұрын
cool bro the plastic seems to hold though... but i guess after a couple of years there might be a chance for wear and deterioration....

It almost looks like the block the decepticon badge is on can rotate, perhaps with an autobot badge on the opposite side; as an homage to when he switched sides at the end of Prime.

hmmm... that's would be nice.. but i don't think it can rotate, at least on this figure, but that would definitely be an interesting mod and custom

Prime Knockout holds together a bit better if his torso is double hinged into the proper lower place as that then allows his shoulders/upper chest area to lock in place and stabilises him a lot. Can I just say that I flipping ADORE Krock-out (Beast Hunters Knockout - he's so adorably silly being part crocodile and part car)

I don't understand why people keep complaining about the Prime characters being reinterpreted in a g1 style. We've had classic characters reinvented time and time again in different design aesthetics, why should the Prime characters be any different?
@chefatron2 жыл бұрын
not all... as long as the redesign is done properly, I'm good with it. case in point: knockout was done properly, arcee was not

I kinda prefer the original figure, tbqh. I liked the originals TF sequence and robot mode. I know it was kind of fiddly and yeah the arms are weird, but I have mine with repro labels, so it's special to me. The Jazz mold is a bit too simplified, blocky, and G1 to match his personality.
@chefatron2 жыл бұрын
that's cool man yes agree
@gerardootero11492 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I wish Knockout wasn’t a retool of Jazz. Besides, Studio Series ‘86 Jazz was more a movie accurate toy, since Hasbro couldn’t get the rights to the Porsche 935 Turbo. I was honestly hoping that if Jazz got a War For Cybertron Trilogy toy, they would keep his Porsche mode. Prime Knockout’s Urbana vehicle mode was modeled after the Aston Martin, although I don’t know which make and model he was. It was either the Aston Martin One-77, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggara or the Aston Martin DB11. Knockout deserved his own mold.
@chefatron2 жыл бұрын
same, but it's a pretty good retool, though... yes perhaps yes good point

Hasbro: G1? Must be perfect! BW? Let's tru our best! Unicron trilogy? Let's give it all! Prime? WHO GIVES A FLYING F**K!! Don't get me wrong, it probably is a great toy... but a great Knockout? Not even close! Can we stop calling these G1ificated molds "an update"? These are complete redesigns, which would sit well with me, if only they were not advertised as the PRIME characters. Is it a good toy? It certainly looks like it is (still worried about that horrid clear plastic but... whatever) Can it be a good Knockout? Maybe with a better facesculpt that doesn't look as dead as the soul of Hasbro. Can it be a good PRIME Knockout? NOPE! Think of it like this: how would people take it if Hasbro was to announce G1 Optimus, only to put G1 Optimus head on Armada Optimus body? They would be RIGHTFULLY outraged. It's the same thing! Oh, Chef, you are right by the way: the whole "otherwise they wouldn't fit in your generation collection" is a blatant lie. I mean, look at your shelves: -Bayverse Devastator looks like a barely anthropomorphic abomination with a meat grinder for a mouth, -G1 Optimus looks... like the usual G1 Optimus, -G2 redecoes look like G1 on LSD, -Knightverse Brawn look like G1 in Hi-Def, -the fossilizers look like they are some "Evil dead" action figures, -BW characters are wearing organic animal parts... Hasbro, what "generation style" are you referring to? Hasbro is just lazy and eager to cash in on some famous names...
@Draconicus7022 жыл бұрын
Couldn't have said it better myself.. this figure and the Bulkhead, aren't even trying to be the TFP characters. The figures are just obvious G1 molds with the heads of the TFP characters stuck onto them.
@brotquel15922 жыл бұрын
@@Draconicus702 finally! Every time I point that out people are like "don't you understand? this is an alternative interpretation! An update!" First of all "different interpretation" means it's not the original character, so thank you for supporting my argument. And second, I'm pretty sure that taking a design from 2010 and turning into a design from 1985 is pretty much the exact opposite of "update".
@chefatron2 жыл бұрын
oh wow, lots to take in with this man hahaha... but yeah, i hear you and i agree... it is what it is... i just hope Hasbro listens to fans like you and i when we give them blunt honesty... that's really the best gift we can give them--honest feedback so they can improve their products and grow as company
@brotquel15922 жыл бұрын
@@chefatron I absolutely agree. I think that the recent decline in Hasbro's quality is partially due to fans' compliance: -worse QC? Still buying! -cheaper plastic? Still buying! -unreasonable price increase? Still buying. -paying attention to just one part of the fans? Still buying. I can go on. Some changes are inevitable, I get it, but there is no doubt that Hasbro is really going with it. I mean, for example, I get that the plastic is now more expensive, but why do the prices increase so much if you are using less of it?
@chefatron2 жыл бұрын
@@brotquel1592 yes, true... i guess coz a lot of fans, including me, just kinda want to buy hasbro instead of getting nothing... and given that 3p products are insanely expensive... hasbro and takara tomy are the next best thing...
