Aesthetically the Legacy is much better proportioned with a ton less gaps. It’s also objectively much more stable. For me the better look and articulation (and ability to use said articulation) was well worth the upgrade. Even with fixing loose joints, almost all of the CW combiners still can’t hold any good looking poses other then an A stance or subtle things. It’s good there is something for everyone but I definitely see an upgrade with this legacy menasor. Great video as always

I find the Legacy thighs too short and arms too thin. But, the CW torso is just not right. As for stable, my CW wirh the mods is much more stable than Legacy bit stock to stock, yeah, Legacy is. The articulation is not better, it is equivalent, though you trade fingers for ankles. The Kegacy absolutely cannot hold any poses any better than my CW lads. They both fall if is not weight distributed correctly. But, like I said, as for which Menasor is right for each person, it really depends what one is looking for. I can't call this at all anywhere close to worth 3 times as much but it does succeed better with some things while failing with others. They ate, however, much, much better Stunticons

@@DennisMoultonAKAGotBot the CW has the weird torso, too long of thighs, tiny feet, huge hands, gappy forearms, and atleast on mine a lot of the limbs don’t like to stay together (a problem I found throughout that entire line). We will have to agree to disagree on the articulation and stability, especially when you not only get ankles and a waist but he 100% poses better as I haven’t had him fall over once in any walking, punching, leaning, or super dynamic action poses. He’s been solid as a rock for me and I have never seen a CW menasor (or any other CW combiner for that matter) pull off half the poses I’ve seen with this menasor. Atleast In the US he is closer to double the price and I definitely see double the value for what I’m looking for, not only in stunitcons but a combined menasor.

Great comparison, thank you. I missed/skipped CW menasor, they all came and went too fast. I did get in on Abominus, which I absolutely love, and also managed to get Devastator, which, again, great figure, really nails it. I love the Legacy Menasor, and I appreciate the idea that the trailer is the skeleton. I prefer to think of the other Stunticons not as clothes, but more as the muscles of the skeleton.

The toon accuracy rocks, I love it. The motormaster wearing a suit criticism is a valid point but certainly not a deal breaker for me. I just wish Hasbro would quit patronising us with rubbish accessories such as the sword with this, the blitzwing giant hands and that travesty of a Daniel figure that came with ss86 slag.

The motormaster wearing a suit criticism is a valid point with the toy end but there was an g1 episode where he combines and the other bots connect to him like the legacy toy does . i will have to find the episode and let you know what one it is ... just like hotrod in the 86 movie has diffrent transformations they show. the transformation differs episode to episode with Menasor.... my cw Menasor can hardly stand . my cw copy had the early version of the hips and it dosnt work well at all . its a fight to get him to stand . keep up the good work

Great comparison. While I do like legacy menasor, it felt like a good TV show that botched its finale. Had hope they would finish the last stunticon on a highnote, but instead it was the weakest of the 5 for me. Should've expected it with a name like breakdown. If they had reworked his front like you suggested, it might have been enough to save him. But I suppose with hasbro, they already knew we're committed at this point, so why bother.

For me, the answer to the question which version of Menasor is the better one, CW or Legacy the answer is its a tie, they both have the same amount of pros and cons, one version has a feature that the other lacks, and what most collectors have been quick to overlook is, the CW Menasor was NOT designed to be purely G1 accurate, its a mashup of both the G1 and IDW Stunticons. lol Keep on being amazing.

I wound up getting the UW version, plus Blackjack and Offroad (and a spare MM). It’s aggravating that no 3p company decided to make a trailer/base/weapon set for CW/UW. I’ve always enjoyed additional team members, at least when it makes sense. As opposed to Defensor with two Grooves. The legacy stunticons act more like minicons than a real combiner. Also important is the entire ‘scramble’ gimmick, mixing limbs or even between teams.

I always felt like CW motormaster was more of a bayverse galvatron toy originally. I can see the differences in design, in phylosopy and in execution, and I perfectly agree; on baseline, with no add on or anything, there is no superior version

Great video and comparison of the figures on a lot of levels. But less so on the price situation. Part of Legacy’s increased price is just the increase in the toys’ prices overall. You are going to have a very hard time finding CW Menasor for his original price now. If you can, that’s an increadible deal. I can’t find any online right now for under $200, about the price of Legacy. If you adjust their prices to modern prices, the deluxes become $25, the Voyager $35 the legends at a Core Class price of $12 (these prices in USD as that’s where I live), that’s $147 vs Legacy’s $190. That’s a lot closer. You throw in the upgrade kit that most people seem to think CW needs and you’ve about breaking even, and that’s assuming you can even find CW Menasor for that price.

The price comparison is very apt. I stand by it. The Legacy here is about 300 plus CW was 120. 120 here in 2015, accounting for inflation, is 143 today, not 490 plus. The price comparison is 100 percent accurate. No upgrade kits of any sort are ever needed. That is an extra and the choice of individual buyers.

@@DennisMoultonAKAGotBot my main point is that you cannot find a CW Menasor for that 120 anymore. That might have been what it cost in 2015, but it’s not what it costs *now*. And we all know that Transformers shot up in price more than standard inflation. My math was based on figure class, which you usually stick to for your comparisons for everything but price. A deluxe is a deluxe. Any deluxe now isn’t going to cost what one did then.

I have the remold of combiner wars menasor called “optimus Maximus”. I had quite the journey collecting all of the members as a kid. He’s pretty wobbly in combined mode tho, and I thought it was probably just due to age.

'Dude, you and I are totally on the same page about Breakdown. Not even close to a Countache! It's like this. If you've gotta make one mold be a Ferarri 308, and a Lambo Countache, you make the Lambo FIRST, then convert from there to the 308. The way it's done here, makes it like "lets make a jaguar out of a Miata." No let's make a Miata out of a jaguar lol. The 308 is their entry level car, and the countache is... the countache lol. I've been trying to mask off the side windows on him, to paint the stripes representing the smoking window, and cross bar for the mailslot window lol. It'''s proven to be a little difficult. I think those window striped in white will absolutely make a HUGE difference. They really should have done that. Gave us 2 more tiny paint apps, oh and a 2nd gun. I'm going to whack that spoilerang in half. Fun fact, that wing had the nickname "hyundai wing" back in the day, since it cost more than a new hyundai.

To be fair even 3p also have parts-forming in their menasor. The problem with CW Menasor is the torso, very weak and no waist with that ugly mudflap, weak joints and limbs. I actually wish they could give us a CW Menasor in the same quality as the legacy. Seems they cut the budget with CW menasor.

Legacy is better, ignoring the added cost and its issues. However, if they did a better menasor themed voltron-like combiner with no part forming, it would be a good direction.

I don't use add ons and find the CW better combined. Tons sturdier once I fixed the Motormaster forearms, but that was why I took a balanced approach here. Different folks will want different things.

I'm gonna be real, after getting my own copies of the CW Stunticons, and after a little bit of tweaking here and there, I'm starting to think the CW is better than Legacy. It's able to pull so many poses the Legacy one just can't do, plus I just prefer the Scramble City style of combiner rather than the cartoon-accurate combination system the Legacy is going for

Since we are with the LEGACY line, it wouldn't be bad to try other versions of the STUNTICONS, even if it is in the CORE class... I do want to see a Menasor from the RID 2015... I mean. . . , they already gave us a Strongarm, it would be good to see more characters from that animated series and what better than those guys even if they are small, more or less like what happened to Vulcanicus, which for being small doesn't look bad

Thatceould be an interesting route to go. I believe we will see the Animated Stunticons, as Motormaster has been announced but pretty sure they don't combine. Something like that Menasor would be interesting.

The proportions on the CW combiners are just so off, and the tolerances make it almost impossible for them to hold any kind of pose. I think the Legacy Stunticons are a step in the right direction, although they do have their own issues: some bad QC here and there, a stumpy trailer for motormaster, terrible weapons for Motormaster/Menasor.

Both of these have their own set of negatives. Yes, Legacy is cartoon accurate, but I don't like the whole "slot cars onto Motormaster's trailor" gimmick. The Combiner Wars does what I would want for a combiner, but in my opinion it suffers from the individual components being repaints/remolds of other toys and not their own separate molds. I seriously believe that its time that this entire team gets redesigned from the ground up.

If u think about it the original motormaster trailer and cab formed most of menasor. I know original was trailer and cab formed robot but still the same principle goes for both. And I must say I hated how original was so small compared to other stunticons. The scale was stupid when comparing rig to other guys. At least this set is more in scale with each other

I have the combiner wars in g2 colors so glad to have the legacy in orginal colors . I love the new menasor especially motormaster , dragstrip , deadend and wildrider but like the breakdown in combiner wars more . I also like that the legacy combines different but I wouldn't want every combiner the same just like devastator is different because it's 6 figures and predaking because of the wings in behind I don't want them all the same. The left over stuff for legacy with the gun attacked is like a gun canon thing for menasor so isn't really just left over parts

Don't know why but Legacy Menasor feels wrong, why it bothers me that it's Motormaster dressed up. Maybe I just need to get used to it. Legacy Menasor's arms don't bother me the way looks (I don't own it I am just going from what I have seen) they seem more functional but if you look at it's legs from the front you only see Motormaster's trailer. I believe they should have done more to at least have the illusion of it being combining bots building the legs...(if that makes sense). I just checked the cartoon (G1) and it's cartoon accurate maybe the button wheels should be a little more visible when looking from the front but yeah it's nit picking. From pure looks I am not sure why I don't like this one. Could it be that a toy can look different and maybe better then the animation? Maybe an interesting top 10 question what bot looked better as a toy then as the original animation it was based on?

do NOT try to separate deadend and dragstrip before putting them on then arms. the pegs are designed to unlock their wastes so they can separate when attached to the arm "skeleton. if you try to pull them apart without pegging them in first you wont be able to and might end up breaking them. this guy either got a defective copy or already broke his.

That design outright does not work on either arm. They HAVE to be taken apart first, not that that helps since they fall off anyway. Such a trash design. Matk Maher failed miserably here, unfortunately.

Gotta agree that the CW with PE upgrades is a much better route still. The Legacy still just seems like a waste in comparison. We finally get to the point where you have all 4 limbs plus a dark Drag Strip abut everyday when you look at it you ask yourself was it really worth the effort and time spent getting it.

Legacy motormaster is harder to find than combiner wars motor master because legacy motormaster is commander class and combiner wars motor master is a voyager class.

That has nothing to do with it. As a voyager, more sypres carried the CW. Commander is more expensive and a harder sell woth a lower production run. That said, there is a reissue happening (or happened, maybe) as they underestimated demand. This Menasor is nowhere close to worth triple the price but the Motormaster is infinitely better than the CW.

It's a tower with a torrent on top, he doesn't really get a hand gun, it's a you can give it to him as a gun but it's designed to be a torrent so it's not left over but it's not mobile. Now that said are we going to talk about accessories ppl want vs ppl don't there is certainly something to say about that but this is what they could come up with.

That said I don't feel it is lazy engineering, I think they had excess for the trailer that they didn't need for menasor and they came up with something that would function in base mode as well as for menasor. They made it where you can get through the height difference of motormaster and menasor by changing how you put the gun on top....its main purpose is the base mode and as leftover it's still a gun tower.

For my CW Menasaur I got the perfect effect breastplate and head upgrade kit, I am using Abominus' Feet and I bought some cannon bracelets from Shapeways which stops CW Menasaur's shoulders from disconnecting when you move his arms. I concede that as stunticons the legacy version is better, but I put in them combined form in my display cabinet. With all the upgrade kits I think CW Menasaur just looks better than legacy Menasaur!

That's your call but this is mot good. It's mot a real combiner, looks awful and falls apart. The CW, stock, does too, buy I did a ton of work woth motormastet and my CW is infinitely more solid and posable than this thing.

The legacy menasor is leaps and bounds better. And I have the cw menasor with all perfect effect upgrades. Legacy is toon accurate, cw is toy accurate. I'm using my cw stunticons in my siege display, and canon them as their Cybertronian modes, and legacy is their earth modes

Not anywhere remotely close to leaps and bounds and nowhere close to 3 times better. BUT, they are the more solid set of Stunticons. As a Menasor, vastly prefer CW myself, he doesn't fall apart.

I hated CW Menasor so much, that doing any kind of surgery on it would have been the equivalent of lipstick on a pig. But I love legacy so much I ordered the DNA and some random sword and gun upgrades. And you really can't compare retail prices for something that's what 10 years old almost. I doubt you could get CW for retail price if you tried today. I mean I sold mine on eBay for a profit. It was an auction , so it's not like I was trying to rob somebody. Even though if you ask me I wouldn't pay half that for it. I thought it was a horrible piece of junk. It was by far the ugliest of all the combiner wars combiners . But these are just my opinions. I've never Been this happy with a hasbro combiner before in my life since maybe G1 devy when I was a kid. Great review. It's nice to see subjective reviews, makes me think.

I mean, this was as objective as I could be and acknowledge it depends what one is looking for. Now, subjectively? Here it is. Legacy is clearly the better set of Stunitcons. It is nowhere close to three tomes the value and the Meer suggestion is a slap in the face of every fan. As a combiner, it fails miserably as it isn't a combiner at all. It isn't even solid or too solid. The hip ratchets are idiotically tight causing the legs to often come off and the upper part of Deadend falls off at the drop of a hat. I also hate no fingers. The fixed CW is infinitely more successful. Too bad the torso ruined the look. The Toy World one would have fixed that.
