Studio series or not, I’ll say this Devastator is incredibly badass compared to the $100 dollar Devastator I got back in like 2010. Sure that version was easily the coolest Transformer I had back then but this is above and beyond the original by far

When I heard the news of Studio Series doing a Devastator box set, I was excited. Not much was known. Many theorize that it would have a sand desert texture like this. Others thought that it would come with weapon accessories. And a small few thought that it would be a G1 redeco. Honestly, weapon accessories would have been better with this release. But I wish that it was G1 redeco. Because at least it would be more special. This Devastator box set definitely needed weapon accessories, but when it comes to the sand desert paint, it needed more. On the combiner's feet, hands, and individual Constructicons. Because so far, Long Haul is the only one that stands out. For example, Skipjack should have had some of that brown desert paint on his treads, which becomes the left foot.

I think that the reason that Hasbro made a Devestator figure and gave it more attention was that in the Revenge of the Fallen movie, there were clones of the Constucticons. So it would make sense that you can have a Devestator and clones of the Constructicons figures in your collection

Looks like a great complete set overall. Pretty positive this is going to drive towards completionists and those that haven’t been able to obtain a contsructicon on their own release. It feels like a missed opportunity that they didn’t add exclusive accessories, maybe the “enemy scrotum”, a miniature set of figures like Mudflap and Skids, or even the turrets or missile pods that appeared on his body. The dirt paint applications look passable but could have been enhanced with dry brushing like that with SS Shockwave and Grimlock. As someone who paints their figures to add a little life, it’s decent.

They probably realised that doing that would have pissed everybody off, and instead did some minor repaints

Luckily for me I got knock off scrapmetal and long haul for 35$ from that one guy on eebay. I started heading to target a lot more because there could be accidental stocks. Meaning something has been stitting in the back for a while. I found rampage just yesterday and bone crusher about a week ago even tho they are extremely old. Maybe one day I might find long haul. I also got the knock off long haul. So if you want to display devastator and all the constructions individually then buy the aoyi mech knock offs.

Scrapmetal's so popular compared to the other constructicons because NO ONE CAN FIND HIM. I think he was the first on released so people like me who got to collecting the team rather late missed out on him. I'm also having trouble getting long haul for a similar reason. Websites like BBTS are supposed to be getting new shipments of scrapmetal though so fingers crossed that the aftermarket price drops a little

Having collected them separately i was annoyed when I saw they were releases a “better” version as a boxed release, but seeing this I now don’t care. The few weathering effects it does have look terrible. The only bit you could argue is better is the head, but it’s barely noticeable. Still hoping for some third party accessories, like cables / weapons and scrotum.

I was getting worried about whether or not I'd be able to get the whole set, since I'm only able to get one or two at a time and the older ones (Rampage and Scrapmetal) are getting harder and harder to find, I was getting worried that I'd never complete Devastator, but this set has given me hope! Part of me is floored in awe over this boxset, but the other part of me that completed him individually is now looking at him with some regret because one: I love box sets and two: that backdrop is a need. I don’t think I’ll buy this. I am in love with my figure and having it behind glass, the backdrop would most likely only come out fo pictures.

Scrap metal is a rare figure all around the world it seems I live in America and had a really really hard time getting him. I finally found a small toy store across the U.S. who was about to sell it on eBay where they are selling final bids at between $150 to $200. I got mine from this seller for $90 which in my opinion was way better than eBay. I almost didn’t get my hands on a long haul either but got the last one in stock on Amazon for $80. Overall I spent way over $300 for all the figures

I have 2 of the Constructicons so far (Mixmaster & Scrapmetal), & I still would like to get the other 6/7 (I saw one of Rampage last year, but I didn't get him, I saw Hightower earlier this year, but I didn't get him, then when I found Mixmaster at one of my local retail stores during the spring & summer, they had Scavenger, but there was only one of him, so I didn't get him; the same retail store where I found Mixmaster had Scrapmetal all of a sudden a few months ago, but there was only one of him, & hearing him go for ridiculous prices in the aftermarket, I picked him up when I had the chance)

TF Source was taking preorders for the boxed set for $499.99. They've lowered the price to $259.99, same as Hasbro and BBTS websites. I started collecting/purchasing the figures late. It took me about a month to acquire all of them. Some were still available at Walmart or Target. Long Haul was hard to find, paid a whopping $100 for him on TF Source, which was the only place who had him in stock. Scrapmetal was even harder to find. Ebay scalpers were asking almost $200 for him...and he's a $20 figure! I found a bootleg/KO Scrapmetal on Ebay that works just fine, and it was only $50. Altogether I paid about $380. It took me over 3 hours total to transform all 8 figures to combine mode. Most KZbin Transformers tutorials begin in vehicle mode which is super annoying. These guys came in the package in robot mode! So I had to cycle between 3 different KZbinrs to learn the transformation. Anyway, here is the boxed set, for way cheaper, better paint scheme, and all the figures are already in combiner-ready mode. Go figure. Lesson learned...be patient next time and wait for the boxed set, because you know they always come out with a boxed set.

My son has all of these and he loves them, but me personally I would have preferred if Takara and Hasbro had done a Earthrise/Kingdoms Constructicons set. I'm not a fan of the Studio Series/Bayverse look. The Bumblebee Movie designs are a step in the right direction but many of the bots still look very Bayverse-like.

Scrapmetal's wave (including SS Cogman and BUMBLEBEE Shatter) wasn't released in large amounts, for some stupid reason. I think it had something to do with Studio Series Deluxes shelfwarming, particularly Helicopter Dropkick.

I think if hasbro include extra add on parts or new mold to improve devastator it would make more people who already collect constructicon individualy more pissed, i love the silver paint on devastator face but not the gold idk it give me cheap knock off vibes adding gold paint for sake of “adding details” i dont remember devy has that gold in the movie correct me if im wrong, also silver paint on devy finger tips look so tacky as if it painted by amateur painter very sloppy, i think what the best what hasbro could do is make the paintjob more movie accurate like adding decepticon logo on mixmaster drum & make the scavenger shovel more white ish rather than silver, etc, nice comparison video review 👍

I agree, Overload seemed to have the molding for a waist swivel which seems to be removed. Scavenger also has the same idea with the top wheel being locked to the head, that could have been freed up for more possibility. Aw well.

Since you have a second Devastator maybe you can paint the old version in classic colours like the G1 Devastator. Lime green and purple.

9:30 I, too think they were trying to replicate a little wear and tear......So, the silver paint is meant to replicate the metal that is underneath the yellow paint on Scrapper's vehicle form.
