I'm really hoping the Terrorcons are going to be actual characters and not just monsters, like the first Transformers, or especially fodder that drop one after another like the later films. I want these new characters to be more fleshed out and be memorable in their own ways.

Terrorcons not being nightmare monsters and being just a different Con subfaction is something I'll have to wait to get used to, but damn this is a cool-looking figure. I wish back-forearm kibble wasn't so prominent, I feel like it ruins a lot of figures that would otherwise be 10/10 (e.g. TFP Wheeljack)

Your review was most refreshing. Most reviewers cannot seem to make a video of this figure without howling about the forearm pieces being in the way or unsightly, but as they don't actually get in the way and do make weapon-esque items in robot mode, they're fine to me. After the latest reveal of Studio Series Primal, I can't wait for Nightbird, and hopefully Wheeljack. If there are figures of Stratosphere and Scorponok in the works, we would have the entire cast in Studio Series form.

Man, this figure is awesome. And the mace accessory is good. I always thought that Battletrap might have a chain connected when it tries to swing it. When the movie is out, we might see some scenes that Battletrap starts to swing that mace we might expect third party add-ons for this bot.

Honestly looks like an amazing figure in both modes, and so far he's my favorite of the new designs from the new film! Only thing is the chunks of kibble on the arms, but I'm sure DNA designs will do something with that. In fact, if they redid the entire forearms/hands they could make the hands fold in for alt mode too!

Why can’t we get this quality on other studio series figures, this is straight up bad ass, where is this failing? Sure it has visible hand syndrome but it blends in as weird wires and metal on tow trucks, it has a small back pack and a complex and interesting, as well as rewarding to get him in either mode, it’s amazing

Great review, as always. But this is my take on SS ROTB Battletrap: he really looks great. However, the thing I don’t like about Bay movies (ROTB is produced in part by MB) is why do they need to go so far away from the original material. G1 Battletrap exists! He’s a Duocon! A white chopper and a blue truck that combine to form a robot. I mean, I’m sure they could have easily translate that into a live action movie. The Terrorcons are five Cybertronian beasts that combine to form Abominus, and in ROTB it looks like they’ll completely ignore that fact and make it a new faction! The list goes on. I get you want to create, but if you want to create, at least respect the original material (don’t completely overhaul everything). Do what they did in the Bumblebee movie, where they created two new triple changers; Shatter and Dropkick. Now, that is creative awesomeness, whiteout being disrespectful to what already exists.

Initially thought this was a deluxe figure given how streamlined the legs arms are as well as ball jointed. Overall though really good detailing articulation in robot mode, and really like the mace accessory folding over the hand. Lot of nice effort/paint for the truck though looks like it has some issues given the cab doesn't want to clip in place, and the obvious gap between the front rear of the truck. Can not wait to see Scourge though.

2 problems with Battletrap. 1: If you don't have the shoulder spikes clicked down behind the hip correctly, then the cab won't tab down. Very annoying and I found out I was mis-transforming him because the spikes are very stubborn and don't like clicking in properly. 2: The mushroom peg on mine is a piss-poor peg. Constantly coming out, even straight out of the box it popped out.

It's a very good-looking figure. I don't care for the gap between the torso and shoulders though. As far as the Terrorcon faction goes, it just seems odd not having them be some horrible monster looking thing. I suppose though that they are a bit like the Dreadnoks, an offshoot of C.O.B.R.A. but their own distinct fighting unit with a unique look. Hopefully the movie will explain a bit more, and how the beastformers tie into everything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be amazing.
