the biggest difference between lockdown and hotrod is that hotrod has Lamborghini kibble on his Design so the car parts can actually go somewhere in the robot mode, sadly lockdown has no kibble so there was really no place to put the stuff in the robot mode, but with the most recent galvatron figure being kibble free i hope they can do that with a lockdown 2.0 if there Able to make that

In the concept art they did show the Lamborghini details on lockdown such as the lp700-4 in his upper panel on his legs and the Lamborghini cursive on his butt armor along with the rear red turning lights on his the back of his upper arm. So there’s that.

That’s a problem with a lot of the 4/5 designs. Prime example being aoe bumblebee. His robot has little distinguishable car bits his toy has car bits hanging everywhere

Lockdown has a more humanoid body, then hot rod. Hot rod still looks like a vehicle, compared to lockdowns detail to the torso. Would be nice for a new remold of lockdown making his backpack smaller

Interesting choice for a re-review. I love my Lockdown figure but that's because I've modded almost every area of the figure, adding detail, articulation and even adding extra transformation steps. I agree that at the time I was super happy mainly because it's so detailed and the sculpt and personality was so spot-on, but in terms of being an action figure and a good transformer it is desperately in need of an upgrade for sure.

Am i the only one that when the studio series has covered all bayformers figures wouldnt mind them keeping it going and releasing updates on characters that need them instead of ending it for an example lockdown, ratchet, barricade, brawl, optimus and some others that could use an update or even just a slight retool with the way budgets work now i think a voyager ratchet and lockdown and maybe even a leader brawl could save the figures

I remember one of the creators or Game designers for the ps2 armada transformers game said ... The problem with designing a good looking transformer is that if you make the vehicle mode look great then the robot mode suffers and vice versa so the trick is finding a balancing act between car and robot ...parts have to go somewhere....now I see what he means because of those certain parts that have to be placed it sacrifices certain asthetics of the figure

Another thing they should fix is the bicep swivel. Its made from clear plastic and mines snapped on shadow raider. Apparently it was a big issue with a lot of lockdown/shadow raider molds where the arms snapped if you transformed his arms.

Shadow Raider is perfect for the mold on their own, but ye Lockdown needs a few upgrades, maybe have the alt face/battle mask and the gun head as like friction attachments for the head, more weapons, better lower arms, like have the door at least on a swivel hinge and part of the car from the back maybe use it on the legs to give them a better transformation segment? Idk just a little ideas SS could do as upgrades lol.

Been watching your videos for a week now, and a new subscriber here. Your review videos have resurrected my childhood love for Transformers. I have now fullfilled my childhood dream of owning a premium Optimus Prime, and I just got the Premium Finish Bumblee Movie Optimus Prime. Also got the MPM-13 Blackout and NEST Bumbleebee. Now why am I sharing these? Cause without your channel I would've have made a wise decision as to what figure to get for each characters. Quality = Price you made these reviews so amazingly contemplatable. My wish video you can make is to compare each figure of each characters. Ngl i find the carmode better than the peru kill one. Hope hasbro does a "masked lockdown" (but a plotwist is him being a better upgrade) and many more like jolt and roadbuster

I agree. In general, despite their otherwise excellent work, I often have issues with the proportions of the car modes in UT offerings, and Peru Kill's was particularly egregious. But of course as pvp would put it, compromises have to be made sometimes and most in the fandom would understandably prefer that to be made on the vehicle mode rather than the robot.

Peru Kill (at least to me) was the first kind of proper 3P bayformer and back then it was amazing but I think nowadays it’s a little dated

You literally described the VT-01 Hunter 3rd party figure. It comes with a swappable battle mask, a cyberforming seed, the hook, a MASSSIVE gun about as long as the figure itself (which can be set up to be gunface (although its a collosal pain in the aft end to get it on the head)), it has next to NO kibble in robot mode, it has die-cast, removeable side mirrors, it comes with Steeljaw and and another one of his dogs. The DNA upgrade kit gives it the spark extractor, a sword, and a couple other things I can't remember, and stands about the size of the new Grindor figure, if not a few inches taller. And the 3rd party figure only costs 45-50 usd. (At least when I bought it a couple years ago)

I found the buzzworthy bumblebee and barricade 2 pack, and these are my first bayverse studio series figures. They have left a great first impression. Barricade being the main reason I picked it up, only drawback with him is the lack of a 'to punish and enslave' on the back of the vehicle.

Lockdown definitely needs a voyager version. The deluxe mode makes him look like a Lilliputian next to Prime. Lockdown is a badass and deserves better treatment...Voyager class, the gun face as well as a multitude if weapons. Even if the Lambo doesn't scale...well, who cares. Robot mode is what most people want this guy to be on their shelf.

I feel like movie Lockdown is just one of those figures that you sort of have to accept compromise with. Especially at a deluxe scale. His movie design doesn’t really translate well into the real world where he has to also be engineered to turn in to a car. But yeah he definitely should have come with a head gun.

If you think about it, a Lamborghini Aventador was perfect as his earth mode, as he could get his work done, then get away at high speed. I actually bought Shadow Raider months ago on Ebay. I liked the look of him as if he's a fps character! Wished there was detail behind that green visor as it just a hole were the screw does into! The transformation was annoying as in everything has to tab together to look solid and it feel awkward to untab it back to roboto mode given his kiddles are clear plastic painted orange!

Well One thing that they could done to resolve some kible and ( this includes every SS that transforms into a car) Is to move a chunk of the backpack in the legs. Take as an example the vehicon of transformers prime if they do like that the ss could even have a completely free back kible transformer of course this also depends of how they Will treat the transfornation of that part of chunk that could transform the legs into a mess but this solution Is by far the superior One instead of Always putting everithing in the back creating another ninja turtle💀

Lockdown has some annoying clearance issues. I didn’t mind him too much outside the door hands, I dislike it when they’re molded in. He could use a redesign but I’m unsure if that’ll happen. If it did I’d love to see the rear part of the car melt into the legs like Hot Rod. Also, Lockdown is a heavy retool of Cog Man if you ask me. Cog Man has some added bits really, that’s it.

i hope sometime in the future we get a voyager scale figure of lockdown since peru kill looks like a leader class scale version of the character just for our evasion and knight versions of optimus prime...since i`m something of an awkward completist myself like an idiot i passed on not getting shadow raider while he was on sale at one of the stores i went to and years later i regret doing that and i refuse to get shadow raider off from ebay because of the prices(which i haven`t visited yet of this typing) i`d rather be lucky getting the figure loose with the accessories i dont care that much for the packaging just another layer or whatever of cardboard to add to the recycling bin

feel like with most (if not all) they should give you an option to remove the backpack on all transformers. its also really sad because its always the cartoon type ones like legacy that clean up amazingly but the studio series because they have so much detail the backpack is disgusting. it also would have been amazing if you could grab the raiders gun and stick it on lockdowns head like in the movie :(

Considering how there’s been many bumblebee reissues and with the upcoming rerelease of jet powered Optimus, I can’t see why Lockdown can’t get a rerelease.
