Hound was previously reissued in Japan around 2004 as part of the white box Transformers Collection reissue line. He was never reissued in the USA previously. Hard to believe it's been almost 20 years since that reissue.

He was an reissue that some people were not even expecting considering TakaraTomy failed to reissue him after 2004, due to the Encore (TakaraTomy's second line that was made to be a G1-toys reissue line before shifting to later shows reissues in the late-2010s after a hiatus) line's demise in 2020. It's also nice to see him in toon-accurate colours.

I loved Hound as a kid. Not only was an Army Jeep the first car I drove (I was 15), but then when I went into the Army, I was a scout too!

Just a heads up, because it sounds like you don’t know. Hasbro stated during their original run of G1 reissues that the dinobot moulds are all either lost or destroyed. Unless Hasbro takes a G1 toy and tries to recreate an 80’s style mould by reverse engineering it, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see them reissued.

G1 is still my favorite transformers line of all time. And you can't say it's nostalgia, I was born in 99. These original figures that came from Diaclone are just magical.

& I'm born in 97. The original Transformers toys, especially the 1984 & 1985 lines really captivate me until this day. There's something about the design, stickers, painted on die-cast metal parts, chromed parts & rubber wheels which made them look premium.

@waynengweihann8252 they really do! I have doubles of many characters because I love the alt modes just as much as the robot modes. Some can nearly pass as tiny models I swear. The finish is incredible on most of them.

I already own a toon-accurate Starscream thanks to Takara, and I prefer the toy colors at least on the original G1 Hot Rod toy, but if I get Hound, he may need a chrome pen

Seeing Hound like this is one of the best Autobot in the original series. Hopefully this year, Hound will be the next Autobot character for my collection of Autobots, and I've been waiting to get my hands on him.

Hound may have trouble walking due to the limited g1 toy style articulation but atleast he can still roll on his wheels. I remember him retailing for 9.99 way back in the old Cybertronian days at Toysrus and Lionel Play world.

wow, nostalgia. I remember the original Hound being my first Transformers toy (inherited from cousin) in the 1990s. If I remember correctly, originally it was metallic, the central part, not plastic-ky as in this reissue. Unfortunately the head was broken. Brings back memories.

The Wheeljack and Mirage molds are gone. Both Hasbro and Takara have said that they won't be getting reissued. The same with Sunstreaker and the Dinobots.

I think toon accurate decos is a great thing for repaints, but I dislike it as a replacement for the toy accurate deco reissues they started with. Starscream and hot rod got their vintage deco reissued before the new toon accurate one, but hound has not. If you were gradually building a Vintage G1 collection from the Walmart reissues it means clashing show and vintage toy colors together in a hodge podge now.

Awesome video! I can't lie, I'm an ageing fella (47 until May) and I LOVE this and I really appreciate that you like him too. This is the sort of toy which introduced me to my one true love of almost 40 years haha! I will be buying this, and seeing it transformed I can see how they could easily introduce some modern engineering into it to give it more pose ability while maintaining the same aesthetic - compressed arms that you pull out for robot mode, knee and hip joints etc. I would love to see that.

Hound was one of the G1 toys I did not have as a kid...and I had almost everything. For some reason this one eluded me. I was aware of the 2004 reissue in Japan but I didn't jump on it due to the price of importing at the time. Now we have a redeco of the character in animation colors and man does this look great. Mine is on the was from Hasbro Pulse as I type. Can't wait!

38 year old ancient here. When I was a kid I wanted Hound so bad but never got him. I bought a lot of my collection from flea markets, yard sales and collectors selling them in the paper. I got a lot of stuff but never a Hound. Couple of years ago I bought the reissue Hot Rod since I never had him either so I might get this. I did get the Siege Hound, aside from Siege the only other Hound I ever bought was the Alternator one, which was kinda cool tbh.

If I remember right, all the G1 Dinobot molds have long since been lost or destroyed, so the chances of reissues are probably slim.

You can get KOs of them on ebay, which are basically perfect so someone has managed to recreate the molds.

Mirage was the 2nd TF I ever owned and broke within a day in the middle. :( I got an unused MIB version as an adult and apparently thought trying to transform him would be a good idea and, well, that one broke too.

Only g1 figs I ever picked up was I think back in 2010 or 11 cant remember but when I saw them I flipped because I didn't realize they were being re-released it was insane so I picked up Richochet and AutobotTracks

Since Hound was my first Transformer, I'm getting this guy. Looking at my Hound shelf and scaling the bot mode from WFC, his bot height is going to match Magic Square and Mech Fan Toys legend scale toys (same with G1 vs MFT Astrotrain). Kind of a Deluxe in the streets, Legend in the sheets situation. I've got spaces on my Hound shelf reserved for this version, Buzzworthy, and NewAge. And 10 year old me is totally judging you for taking so long to transform the fig. I've had enough playtime with this fig that the transformation is beyond muscle memory.

Hound was the first transformer I owned. I am honestly very very surprised there is dicast and rubber tires. The non chrome parts aren’t that big of a deal, u can paint those. Rubber tires and dicast. Ok Hasbro I see u, but wait the next one will probably suck lol.

Just unscrew the launcher and put a spring in it. That's what I've done with many reissues. Usually a pen has the right side
