Welcome to our KZbin channel! In this video, we'll be taking you through the process of cleaning and setting up a fantastic $50 garage sale find: a Fender Stratocaster.
If you're a guitar enthusiast or simply love a good bargain, you've come to the right place. We'll guide you step-by-step as we transform this neglected gem into a beautifully playable instrument once again.
First, we'll tackle the essential cleaning process. We'll show you how to remove years of dirt and grime, bringing back the guitar's original shine. Our expert techniques will help you restore its aesthetic appeal and prepare it for the next stages.
Next up, we'll replace the old strings with a fresh set & transform the fretboard back to its original luster. Using various tricks such as special Ph neutral oils.
One of the common issues with neglected guitars is corrosion. We'll demonstrate how to address this problem, using safe and effective methods to remove rust and oxidation from the hardware using organic coconut oils. By the end, your Stratocaster will look as good as new.
Of course, a proper setup is crucial for optimal playability. A quick Truss rod adjustment, action height, and intonation. You'll discover how to achieve the perfect balance between string height and fretboard comfort, making your playing experience a joy.
Finally, we'll take care of the frets. Fret polishing is an essential step to ensure smooth string bending and eliminate any buzz or fret wear. We'll show you the tools and techniques required to restore the frets' shine and maintain their longevity.
By the time we're finished, your $50 Fender Stratocaster will have undergone a remarkable transformation. It will not only look fantastic but also play like a dream. So, join us on this exciting journey as we breathe new life into this amazing garage sale find.

Just bought a 1967 Fender Coranado II this summer at a yard sale. This did not have a case but $75.00 and for $10.00 more he included an Ibanez RG and a small practice amp. Fender plays sweet.

Really informative video - I learned a lot. I recently bought a guitar with gold chromed humbucker covers - what product would you advise to polish/coat them? I want to keep them from fading to silver over time and to protect them from the oils in fingertips. TIA 😊

Wow, $50!?! Great looking guitar, plus a solid travel case; and, it’s already got some real “relicing” (i.e. corrosion, dings and scrapes). What a score! You’re friend is a lucky man. Nice job on the thorough cleaning and set-up, too. Really looks great, now that you’ve spiffed it all up.

Nice work. The fretboard looks great. And that case- wow! Maybe I'm in the minority, but I hate the black/yellow sunburst look. Since you had it disassembled, it would have been the perfect time to fix the body, so you could paint it a nicer color.

Insane find! someone never wanted that in their home and sold it for the "someone take this thing" price. SCORE! I didn't know fender used that P90's style pickup design with the 2 ceramic magnets on either side of metal slug pole pieces. I thought they only used alnico pole pieces

Yes the strats that had Made in Mexico on the front of the headstock had these ceramic bar magnets.

I'm pretty sure it was only the Mexico strats with those pickups, but I could be wrong. I offered to buy it from him. He refused. Lol.

7:37 Wow! You’re REALLY brave, polishing the frets using a Dremel without any kind of guard on the fretboard that way! That takes serious hand precision!

The secret is in the right speed, and the proper cut compound. Too aggressive of a cut would definitely damage the board.

@The Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Effect Its a Mexico version so around 400.00 without the case. So with the case it's right up there I'd guess. But I'm definitely no strat expert. Lol. I forgot to mention he got a Fender Mustang II combo amp for another 50. That thing sounds sick!

Wow, that was an absolute steal for $50, the case alone was worth the 50 bucks! You did a great job cleaning the guitar up and bringing it back to life and it sounds great.
