Simple, and plain just what a fixed blade needs to be.

Thank you for saying “dag-bunrit”. That shows your true character and maybe goes to show why you have respectful kids and grandkids. My Papa used to say that. Brought back good memories and made me smile! Have a great day Doc.

Really like how this came out. I like how thin the single blade knife is now. Very elegant and sleek. It would be cool if you made some custom mini single blades out of the leftover blades. Could be cool content

Great job on the knife. Look into a good set of center punches. That wooden handle is absorbing the strike, making you having to strike it harder than you need to.

Kevin I think that the scales are celluloid and are gassing out (note the deep Rust on the Spey blade that runs down into the spring. . I have had bull dogs and buck creek from the 90,s made in Solingen that gassed and totally destroyed everything , broke liners , scales and springs.

I currently have an old Cattaragus jack knife torn apart. Looking for a back spring, which I'm sure I'll never find. No, I did not remove the pins without breaking the over 100 year old bone.😂 I've been thinking about throwing it back together as a single blade and carrying it. Thanks for the video.

I got an idea that might work for sanding down the pin. Play some of that gray tape over it and then with a point of a razor ,go around where the pin sticks out. When you sand down on it, it will stop where the gray tape is
@kenlewis1374Күн бұрын
Definitely Buffalo horn handles, commonly used material on German made knives. I especially like that coffee color in that knife❣️👍
@kenlewis1374Күн бұрын
I think you should’ve made your own back spring for that knife. You have the old one for a pattern. Next time we’re together, I’ll tell you how to do it. Easy peasy!

@Cooks-carvingsКүн бұрын
Looks good and great repair video. Question I’ve seen some other people use a tool to champher bit on the bolsters to allow the pins to swell and you can sand down smooth. Have you ever seen/ heard of that? Thanks for sharing. Also I sent you an email on a link about the history of green river knives that I ran across.
@RickyTick460Күн бұрын
Love to watch you put those pins in. That's something that takes talent and precision. Thanks for taking us along for the ride! Great show as always !! Also, how do I find the you're auction on whatnot? I am not familiar with it, so I created an account. Just not sure how to find your auction on there.
@michaelmorrison4843Күн бұрын
Those scales are celluloid! You could've made a new back spring and had all three blades! That's what I would've done! 🤔👍
