I have been watching and getting caught up on this channel. What caught my eye was Nate Berkus. I love his style, his personality, and they way he is with people. He makes people happy. Jeremiah Brent just adds icing on the cake. They are great together.

He said around table promotes intimacy. That’s so correct. No “head of the table” that implies someone is superior. That’s why I love a round table.

@caroled5735: Just get a chair that’s higher than the others for head of the family! Won’t matter if the table is round, square or whatever.

I agree with nate. storage, storage, storage is necessary.

Sooo glad they need the open shelving in the kitchen!!! Looks great, but these people cook!!! Open shelving in the kitchen just attracts grease and dust and is a maintenance nightmare, especially by the stove!!! Save it for other rooms where it’s only dust!! They also have NO space to waste on it! Good call.

So pretty…but all I can think of with open shelving is dusting, keeping things perfect, and how much adjacent storage is being sacrificed.

In almost every house they include a built in seating area, such as in the corner here making a dining area with the round table. Thats an excellent design tip that many people don't include, but it works in so many ways such as a window seat. My family had window seats on opposite ends of a room -one faced east, and the other faced west. You would have your coffee in the morning on one side, and then stretching out to relax in the afternoon on the other side. Not only do they save space on the floor, but you can also have storage underneath the window seats, or the fitted dining banquette as they have here.

Open shelving is almost a trend that hasn't been found to be practical for everybody.

That's cool. But all of that for $100,000? That's expensive as hell

Also, they're in New York which has a really high cost of living, so materials and local labor are godawful expensive!

They may have also done the bedrooms, but did not show them. HGTV wants you to pay to watch full episodes. These are edited short clips of the full show. It’s very frustrating to watch all of these decorating videos and you don’t see all of it, but that’s what we get it for seeing it for free.

That rail is an art deco transitional design, rather than mid-century architecture...

@@thawtianajawnson30 Mid century is a lot more "spare" than Deco. The weight is visually much lighter, less grounded. Deco has opulence...

I would have wrapped the whole kitchen around and put one or two open glass shelves across the window. Positioned the closet beside the door at kitchen base. Done red brick instead of tile, hood copper/charcoal or wood like the shelves. Love that they repurposed the furniture and kept the railing. Love what they did with the ceiling.

Great design but the center table in the living room seems impractical. Consumes space and the corners aren't safe.

I love Nate and Jeremiah, but what are they thinking putting marble countertops into a busy home with kids? It's going to stain so badly!

Not loving this one. I think the concept was there, but the execution falls flat. The lighting in the kitchen is weird, with those angled fixtures and the open shelves. Also, it’s still a kitchen for one. The sofa is an odd shape. That ladder is ridiculous.

@Jo-kh1yo: Throw it out the window! Maybe they should have created a galley kitchen and have the backdoor open on the wall where the sink is and build s mud room.
