So are those cork belts? You have a link for them?

You can get you leather belt strop wet and dry it with heat. The heat will stink the belt some so you can get a longer life out of it. I dry mine with a hair drier.

@@jcsaunders100 I'll give that a shot. I tried it in the past with not much luck. It just stretched right back out almost instantly. But I'll give it a shot and see. 🙂 Thanks for the tip.

Now that your mobile, you could take knives to locations around Washington and become a Travel Channel! Just kidding we’ll have to wait until you get more subs for that…

@@jeffreyblaisdell1988 lol that would be fun being able to set up a pop up for knife sharpening. And having people from that area swing on out. That would be super fun!!!

So what exact belts are these? Red label but which ones?
@Samsmobilesharpening3 ай бұрын
@@johnlamer8137 my apologies. Here is a link for the 2x72 variant. I'm not sure if they have them listed for the 1x30 but if you email them you should be able to order some. 🙂 www.redlabelabrasives.com/products/2-x-72-inch-compact-grain-aluminum-oxide-sanding-belts?variant=45047567745268

You had said a 1 point that you should stop rambling and start sharpening. I have watched over a hundred videos and I am convinced that half of your videos should be a verbal explanation. Watching is good but hearing the explanation really is what teaches us. Thanks for the great videos.

@@jarederhardt lol true that. Getting to hear the processing as well as what's going through someone's head can be super helpful.

I've been using the beard brush and then hitting the edge with a leather strop mounted on wood. 2 or 3 swipes per side, then it's done. Do you think the loose strop worx better?
@SamsmobilesharpeningАй бұрын
@@dougsmith4525 I think it's just a matter of personal preference. Some people love rigid strops and others don't. But if space is not a thing to factor in. I would choose a rigid strop. I've recently upgraded to a rock hard felt wheel that is wonderful for deburring and giving a really consistent edge!

Those 1x30 belts look very rough, more like scotch-brite ones.

@@redangrybird7564 right I thought the same thing!!!! Crazy that those one in the thumbnail are 600 grit!

@@michaelvanbuskirk8845 don't blame ya there. All I know is when I used to go blow my nose at the end of the day when I didn't wear one, there was metal dust. So I would much rather be safe than sorry.
